Sand pits just west of town
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Vero Rock and Sand 4.3 miles west of Winter Beach and the Blue Goose Mine 4.4 miles west, both sand and gravel operations. A dump truck or end-dump tractor that hauled out of either pit may still be parked near the scale house or a yard on that side of town. Give us the address and the name of whoever can let us onto the property.
Further out, Capron Trails Mine, a crushed-stone quarry, is 13.4 miles south, and Brisbane Pit, an industrial-mineral mine, is 15.3 miles north-west, again on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list. If your truck ran aggregate between those sites and Indian River County jobs, tell us which loads it carried and send photos of the bed, the frame and the tires along with the cab.
Construction carries a third of the local jobs
Construction holds 291 of Winter Beach’s 921 jobs in 2023, which the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts put at 31.6 percent of the town’s work. Concrete mixers, flatbeds and dump trucks are the trucks that kind of work keeps on the road, and those are trucks we buy from owners here.
Around Winter Beach the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns tallies 101 construction establishments, many of them small outfits with a truck or two. If your truck belongs to a small contractor and is titled to the business rather than to you, have the person who can sign for the company ready, along with the title and current registration.
Plants and shops
Manufacturing and the box trucks it uses
Manufacturing accounts for 74 local jobs, 8 percent of the total, according to the same 2023 LEHD job counts from the Census Bureau. Box trucks, straight trucks and day cabs that move parts and finished goods between shops are on our list too.
If a straight truck from one of those shops is sitting behind the building, a photo of the plate, the VIN sticker and the odometer saves a round of questions. Service records from the shop’s own mechanic, if you kept them, belong with the photos.
Twenty miles south: ramp and two rail yards
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics places a rail intermodal ramp at Fort Pierce, about 20 miles south of Winter Beach. The North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, adds two Fort Pierce rail yards at 20.5 and 20.6 miles.
A day cab or sleeper that pulled containers off that ramp can be collected wherever it now sits, whether that is a yard in Fort Pierce or a driveway in Winter Beach. Send the VIN, the odometer reading and a contact at the location, and we arrange the collection around them.
Aquatic plants, cattle and horse country
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 492 farms in Indian River County, with aquatic plants, cattle and equine at the top of the county’s list. Livestock haulers, horse-trailer tractors and flatbeds from nursery and pond operations all fit what we purchase.
A farm truck often sits on the property for long stretches between seasons. If the registration has lapsed, say so up front; the title is what matters most, and Florida’s title agency handles a replacement if the original has gone missing.
Forty-one trucks tied to Winter Beach went through FMCSA roadside inspection records between September 2024 and August 2026; their median model year is 2016, and 43.9 percent of the 41 were ten or more model years old.
Whatever the model year of yours, the steps are the same: the title in the seller’s name, the registration, any inspection or service paperwork, and clear photos of every side. With those four in hand, nothing about the truck needs to wait on another trip to find a document.
The questions we get asked in Winter Beach
- My dump truck is parked by the sand and gravel pits off to the west, so must I haul it into Winter Beach before you collect?Vero Rock and Sand and the Blue Goose Mine sit about 4.3 and 4.4 miles west of Winter Beach on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list, and a truck parked near either one stays where it is. Tell us whose land it is on so we can arrange access.
- I misplaced the title on a cattle or nursery truck in Indian River County; where do I get a duplicate before selling?Florida’s title agency issues replacement titles, and with 492 farms in Indian River County on USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, a misplaced title on a farm truck is a common thing to sort out. Apply for the new title first, then let us know when you reach out that the application is with the state.
- Do you buy trucks that worked the Fort Pierce rail yards?Tractors from the Fort Pierce intermodal ramp, about 20 miles south on the Bureau of Transportation Statistics’ list, are trucks we purchase. Send the VIN, the odometer reading and where the truck is parked now.
