Sand and gravel pits off the west side
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Center Sand Company, a sand and gravel operation 6.4 miles west of Winter Garden, and Independent Mine, another sand and gravel site 6.8 miles west. A dump truck or end-dump tractor that has spent its shifts between those pits and Orange County job sites is something we buy, and it can stay parked at the pit yard while we sort out the paperwork with you.
Further out, Okahumpka, an industrial-mineral mine that the Mine Safety and Health Administration places 22.6 miles north-west, is a longer run up into Lake County. If your truck is kept at a mine gate rather than at your house, give us the gate contact and the hours the yard is open so collection can be planned around the site rules.
Tank, rail and fuel terminals toward Orlando
Heniff, which the Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists as a liquid bulk terminal, is 11.9 miles east of Winter Garden. Tank-trailer tractors that load there belong on our list; have the registration and any terminal inspection sheets together before you call, and photos of the cab, frame and fifth wheel.
The North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, shows the ORLANDO rail yard 12.8 miles east and the TAFT yard 15.2 miles south-east. A day cab that shuttles freight to and from those yards can be picked up wherever it stands, whether that is your driveway on the west side or a drop lot near Taft.
Fuel haulers will know the ORLANDO petroleum product terminal, which the Energy Information Administration puts 15.7 miles south-east of town. Tell us the tractor’s VIN and whether it carries hazmat placards or tank endorsements on file, and keep the title in the name shown on the registration.
Winter Garden’s general freight, car and coil haulers
On FMCSA’s carrier census, 508 active motor carriers are based in Winter Garden, and 300 of them list general freight. That covers box trucks, straight trucks and tractors alike, so whatever class yours is, start with the title and the current registration.
Motor vehicles show up on 77 carrier records in FMCSA’s census, machinery and large objects on 61, and metal sheets, coils and rolls on 47. Car haulers, lowboys and flatbeds with coil racks from Winter Garden all fit what we purchase; send a photo of the trailer coupling and the deck along with the cab.
Of the Winter Garden carriers listed in FMCSA’s census, 366 stay intrastate, 139 hold interstate authority and 153 are private fleets moving their own goods. If your truck belonged to a private fleet, the title may be in the company name, so have whoever signs for the business ready to sign the transfer.
Owner-operators, small fleets and miles
FMCSA’s records show 47 new carriers registered in Winter Garden in 2025 and 40 in 2024. If you are one of those newer operators and are selling the single truck you started with, a clear title, your USDOT number and the registration are all that is needed to begin.
Across the 90 carriers here that report mileage to FMCSA, the median is 50,000 miles a truck a year. The carrier census also splits Winter Garden’s drivers into 777 who stay within 100 miles and 902 who go beyond it, so tell us where the truck is right now, even if that is a terminal out of state.
The three biggest fleets based in town, per FMCSA, run 170, 89 and 58 power units. Selling several trucks out of one yard is handled the same way as one: a list of VINs, the titles, and a person on site who can hand over keys.
Construction, nurseries and local jobs
Construction accounts for 3,677 of Winter Garden’s 23,094 jobs in the Census Bureau’s 2023 LEHD job counts, a 15.9 percent share. Dump trucks, mixers and flatbeds that served building sites around town are trucks we buy, and service records from the contractor help us match the truck to its history.
In the same Census Bureau LEHD counts, manufacturing has 1,327 jobs here, wholesale trade 511 and transportation and warehousing 494. Delivery straight trucks and reefers from those employers can be collected from the loading dock where they sit.
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture records 600 farms in Orange County, led by foliage plants, propagative material and potted flowering plants. Nursery box trucks and reefer units that move plants out of the county are on our list too; note whether the reefer unit has its own hour meter and include a photo of it.
Roads and title
Clearances and Florida title steps
Of the 19 Winter Garden bridges in the National Bridge Inventory, not one is load-posted or below 14 feet. Give us the street address and any gate code, and say whether the truck is loaded or empty where it stands.
Florida titles are handled through the state’s title agency, which is also where a lost title is replaced. Apply for the duplicate before we schedule the pickup, and keep any lien release from your lender with the title.
The questions we get asked in Winter Garden
- Can my dump truck be collected from the Center Sand pit yard west of Winter Garden? The Mine Safety and Health Administration places Center Sand Company 6.4 miles west of town, and we can collect from that pit yard; give us the gate contact so the pickup fits the site’s hours.
- My tank tractor is kept near the Heniff terminal east of town. Does it have to come home first? The tractor can stay near Heniff, which the Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists 11.9 miles east of Winter Garden, and we come to it there; send the VIN, the registration and photos of the cab and frame.
- Our Orange County nursery truck is titled to the farm business, not to me, so who signs the Florida title?Whoever is authorised to sign for the business signs the title transfer. USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 600 farms in Orange County, with foliage plants at the top of the list, and a business-titled truck from one of them goes through the same way.
