Fill and limestone
Sand from Silver Lake, stone from the south-east
Silver Lake 1, a sand and gravel operation on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s rolls, lies 11.4 miles north-west of Woodville toward the capital. A tandem or tri-axle dump truck that has hauled fill out of that pit can be sold from the yard where it is kept between loads. Send us the VIN, a clear photo of the bed and the hoist, and the name of the person who holds the keys.
Two crushed-stone quarries appear to the south-east in the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s register: CYD Cabbage Grove at 21.4 miles and Perry Quarry at 21.7 miles. Owners who ran rock from either one down toward Perry often park the truck closer to the quarry than to Woodville itself. Give us the road the truck sits on and whether a lowboy can turn around there, and the collection gets planned around that spot.
Builders make up a fifth of local jobs
Woodville’s 2023 tally in the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts was 412 jobs, and construction filled 92 of them, or 22.3 percent. Contractors on that payroll run flatbeds, roll-offs, water trucks and small dumps, and any of those can come to us straight off a job site. A registration in the company’s name is fine; tell us who signs for the business.
When a contractor winds down a crew or swaps equipment between seasons, the idle trucks tend to collect in one lot. Listing every unit at once, each with its VIN and a few photos taken in daylight, lets us look at the group together instead of one call per truck. Keep any service records you have in a folder by unit number.
Rail yard and base
The rail yard and the base to the north-west
Eight and a half miles up the road, the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the Tallahassee rail yard 8.4 miles north-west of town. Day cabs that shuttle freight to and from a yard like that are trucks we collect, wherever they are parked between runs. A copy of the cab card and the last annual inspection report answer most of our early questions.
NRC-MCRC Tallahassee, a military installation the Bureau of Transportation Statistics locates 8.9 miles north-west, sits beside that same corridor. If your truck is parked anywhere with a gate or a guard, tell us who arranges access before we schedule anything. A name and phone number for the person at the gate saves a wasted trip.
Corn, cattle, horses
Corn, cattle and horses across Leon County
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 372 farms in Leon County, and it names corn, cattle and equine as the county’s top lines. Grain trucks, cattle haulers and the pickups and tractors that pull horse trailers all come off places like those. If the truck lives in a barn or a pasture, tell us whether a lowboy can reach it on the farm lane before we send anyone.
A truck wearing a Florida farm tag is one we take as readily as a commercial plate. Have the title on hand, along with the farm tag registration, and say whether the truck has been used only on the farm or also on the highway. That one detail sorts out which paperwork follows the truck to us.
Woodville sellers’ paper checklist
A clear Florida title in the seller’s name is the paper that matters most. When it has gone missing, the state’s title agency issues a duplicate, and starting that request early keeps the sale moving once everything else is ready. If a lender is still listed, a lien release from them goes with the title.
Along with the title, set aside the current registration, the keys, and any maintenance log or inspection report you still have. Photos of each side, the cab, the dash and the plate on the frame rail round out the file. A seller in Woodville who has all of that in one envelope has nothing left to chase.
The questions we get asked in Woodville
- My dump truck is parked near the Silver Lake sand pit. Can it be collected from beside the pit instead of my place in Woodville?Silver Lake 1 is 11.4 miles north-west of Woodville in the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s register, and the truck can stay right where it is. Give us the address, a gate contact and a note on the ground around it.
- The title to my farm truck is lost. Who reissues a Florida title for it?Florida titles are reissued by the state’s title agency, so a duplicate request starts there. Send us the VIN and the name on the old title while it is in progress, and we can line up everything else meanwhile.
- I run a small construction outfit with several trucks. Can the whole Woodville lot go in one sale?Construction held 92 of Woodville’s 412 jobs in 2023 under the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts, and crews like that often retire several units at once. List each truck with its VIN and photos, and we will look at the group as one sale.
