Wheat and dairy country
Wheat, cattle and milk around Blackfoot
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 1,081 farms in Bingham County, and it names wheat, cattle and milk as the county’s leading products. A grain hauler, a cattle pot or a milk tanker sold off one of those operations is usually parked on the farm itself, so give us the road name and tell us whether a lowboy or tow unit can turn around in the yard.
Of the 247 active carriers that FMCSA’s carrier census lists for Blackfoot, 75 haul grain, feed or hay and 61 carry farm supplies. If your tractor spent harvest seasons hauling wheat to an elevator, send a photo of the trailer hookup and say whether the trailer goes with it or stays home.
Ag hauling around here often means a truck that sits between seasons in a shed or a field corner. Wherever yours is stored, have the title in hand and the registration card from the cab, and we can plan the collection to that spot without you moving it.
Sand and gravel pits off the Blackfoot road network
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists the 3805 Cone Crushing Plant 209 pit, a sand and gravel operation 7.6 miles north-east of Blackfoot. Dump trucks, belly dumps and side dumps that load at a pit like that one are part of what we purchase; tell us the box type and whether a pup trailer is included.
Two more sites appear in the same MSHA listings: Plant 1, a sand and gravel operation 20.1 miles south-west, and the 133 Portable Crusher, a crushed-stone quarry 24.9 miles north-east. If your truck is still parked inside a pit gate, give us the name of whoever can unlock it and the hours the site is open.
Aggregate trucks tend to carry their own paperwork: scale tickets, site safety sign-offs, service logs from your shop. Keep whatever of that you have with the title, and photograph the box, the hoist and the frame alongside the cab.
The Pocatello side
Rail yards and a fuel terminal toward Pocatello
Federal Railroad Administration and Bureau of Transportation Statistics mapping in the North American Rail Network places West Pocatello Storage 22 miles south-west of Blackfoot and the Pocatello yard 23.7 miles south. A day cab that shuttles loads to and from those yards can be collected at the yard lot or back at your place in Blackfoot, whichever is simpler for you.
A petroleum product terminal at Pocatello sits 21.4 miles south-west, according to the Energy Information Administration. If you pulled a fuel tanker in and out of that terminal, tell us the tank’s capacity and compartments and have any tank inspection certificates ready with the title.
A truck that works the run between Blackfoot and Pocatello may be parked at a yard rather than at home. Send us the yard’s address and a contact there, and we arrange the pickup with them directly.
Freight, flatbed machinery and farm-owned trucks
General freight is the most common cargo listed among Blackfoot carriers in FMCSA’s carrier census, with 118 of the 247, and 82 carriers haul machinery and large objects. A step deck or lowboy that moved balers, loaders or other farm equipment is a truck we will look at; send photos of the deck, the ramps and the tractor together.
FMCSA’s records split the city’s carriers into 112 interstate and 135 intrastate operations, and 138 of them are private fleets hauling their own goods. If your truck belonged to a farm, a feed store or a construction outfit rather than a for-hire carrier, the sale works the same way: a clear title in the owner’s name and the keys.
Driver records filed with FMCSA show 392 drivers working within 100 miles of their base and 539 going beyond it. Local or long-haul, tell us where the truck spends its nights so we can set the collection there.
Owner-operators and larger fleets
At the top end, FMCSA’s carrier census shows one Blackfoot fleet with 91 power units and 59 drivers, a second with 64 of each, and a third with 56 power units and 35 drivers. If you manage a fleet of that size and are thinning it, list the units by VIN in one message and we can work through them together rather than one call at a time.
Blackfoot added 15 carriers to FMCSA’s carrier census in 2024 and another 14 in 2025. A new operator stepping back out of trucking can sell the single tractor on its own; have the title, or the lender’s payoff contact if there is still a lien.
A Blackfoot truck covers a median 17,167 miles a year, going by the 86 local carriers whose mileage FMCSA’s census records. Give us the odometer reading and the VIN when you first get in touch, since nearly every other question follows from those two.
Bridges and jobs in Blackfoot
The National Bridge Inventory records 26 bridges in Blackfoot, 3 of them load-posted, and none with clearance under 14 feet. Tell us which road the truck sits on, so the tow unit we send can take a route that suits the weight it will carry.
LEHD job counts from the Census Bureau put 6,086 jobs in Blackfoot in 2023, including 495 in manufacturing, 359 in construction, 114 in wholesale trade and 69 in agriculture, forestry, fishing and hunting. A truck that served a plant, a building site or a warehouse in town can be collected from that employer’s lot if they agree; just give us their contact.
The questions we get asked in Blackfoot
- My grain truck is stored on a farm outside Blackfoot. Is a farm yard outside town somewhere you collect from?Bingham County has 1,081 farms on USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, and we collect from farm yards across them. Send the road name and any gate or access notes.

- I work out of the Pocatello rail yards. Does the truck need to come to Blackfoot?West Pocatello Storage is 22 miles south-west of Blackfoot on the North American Rail Network, and we can collect from a yard lot there or from your home. Tell us which address suits you.
