Thirty-seven carriers out of Hailey
Hailey is home base for 37 trucking operations still active in the federal carrier census kept by FMCSA. Whether you run one of them or own a single truck outright, have the title in your own name or your business’s name, and keep the registration card with it.
Of those 37, the federal carrier census shows 26 authorised for intrastate work only and 11 for interstate hauling. A truck that has stayed inside Idaho its whole life is simple to describe: tell us the make, the model year and the address where it is parked, and we arrange the collection there.
Twenty-eight of the Hailey carriers register as private fleets, according to FMCSA, meaning they carry their own goods rather than freight for hire. If your truck has been a company’s own hauler, the person signing the title must be someone authorised by that company, so settle who signs before we schedule a pickup.
Lowboys, log trucks and bulk haulers
Machinery and large objects are listed by 15 Hailey carriers in the FMCSA census. Lowboys, tilt-decks and the tractors that pull them fit what we collect; send photos of the deck, the ramps and the cab along with the VIN.
General freight appears on 9 of the local registrations, while logs, poles, beams and lumber appear on 5, again by FMCSA’s carrier records. A log truck or a lumber flatbed parked at a yard outside town is one we can pick up where it sits, so give us the road and a person who can open the gate.
Dry bulk commodities are named by 3 carriers here under the federal census. If yours is a bulk hauler, include the trailer’s VIN and say whether it sells with the tractor or on its own.
Construction carries the work
In 2023 the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts put 1,050 Hailey workers, 23.9 percent of 4,391, on building and contracting payrolls. Dump trucks, mixers and equipment haulers belong to that trade, and those are trucks we buy; list what body is mounted and what it was used for.
Hailey’s contractor base numbers 183 construction establishments in the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns. For a contractor selling one unit out of several, pull its service records and the registration before you call, so the truck you describe is the one that is on the papers.
Manufacturing holds 155 jobs and transportation and warehousing 108, with wholesale trade at 53, per the LEHD figures. Box trucks and straight trucks from those businesses are welcome too; a clear photo of each side and the odometer reading starts the conversation.
Cattle, sheep and horses in Blaine County
Cattle lead, then sheep, then horses across the 203 Blaine County farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture. Livestock haulers, stock trailers’ tractors and ranch flatbeds are trucks we take, and many of them are parked on the ranch itself.
A truck kept on a property outside Hailey can stay there for the sale. Give us directions to the gate, a note on whether the lane is passable, and a phone number for whoever will be there on collection day.
One truck or a Hailey fleet
The biggest fleet registered in Hailey runs 26 power units and 26 drivers, by FMCSA’s carrier census, and the next two run 4 power units each. A sale from a fleet of that size can cover one truck or several; list each VIN so every title can be matched.
FMCSA recorded 3 new carriers registering here in 2024 and 3 more in 2025. A newer operator getting out of trucking can sell the same way as a long-standing one: title, registration and photos are what we ask for.
Under the carrier census, Hailey operators report 66 drivers working within 100 miles and 57 going farther. Whichever pattern your truck followed, tell us the address where it is now and we collect it there.
The questions we get asked in Hailey
- Our lumber truck stays at a timber yard beyond Hailey’s town limits; must somebody haul it into town before you collect?Five Hailey carriers list logs, poles, beams and lumber in FMCSA’s carrier census, and their trucks are often kept out of town. We come to where yours is parked; send the location and a contact for the yard.
- I’m closing out a Hailey contracting outfit. Which papers go with the dump truck?Construction makes up 23.9 percent of Hailey’s 4,391 jobs in the Census Bureau’s LEHD counts for 2023. Have the title, the registration, any service records and photos of the body and cab.
- The sheep operation I work for is named on the title of its flatbed. Who signs for that ranch truck?Blaine County has 203 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, and many ranch trucks are titled to the operation. Whoever is authorised to sign for the ranch signs the title, and we handle the rest with them.
