Sand and gravel pits west and east of town
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Dixie River Pit, a sand and gravel operation 5.5 miles north-west of Kuna, and IGT Sand and Gravel 8.6 miles to the east. A dump truck or end-dump tractor that loads at either pit is often left parked at the operator’s yard between jobs, so tell us whether it sits at the pit, at a shop or at your house, and who holds the gate key.
Further out, Golden Eagle, a metal mine 20.5 miles east of town on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list, is a separate site with its own access road. For a truck kept out that way, send the mine-site address and a phone number for whoever can walk us to it, and we will arrange the collection around that person’s hours.
Gravel haulers here usually carry a pile of paperwork from the job: scale tickets, site passes, annual inspection forms. Keep the inspection forms and the title together in the cab folder; the scale tickets can stay in the office.
Nampa’s rail yard and the Boise fuel racks
On the North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, the NAMPA rail yard lies 9 miles west of Kuna. If your tractor shuttled loads to or from that yard, a photo of the door sticker with the VIN and a clear shot of the odometer are the two pictures to send first.
Two petroleum product terminals, BOISE at 9.4 miles and UNITED PRODUCTS TERMINAL at 9.5 miles, sit north-east of town according to the Energy Information Administration. A fuel tractor or tank truck that loaded at those racks should come with its hazmat registration copy and the most recent tank test paperwork, if you have them, so we know what the unit was set up to carry.
Boise Air Terminal and NG Gowen Field Boise, both military installations about 9.3 and 9.4 miles east in the Bureau of Transportation Statistics listings, share that same corridor. A truck parked near the airport side of Boise is still a short pickup from Kuna, and you only need to give us the street address.
Flatbeds, hay loads and reefers registered in Kuna
Of the 191 active Kuna carriers in FMCSA’s carrier census, 125 keep their work inside Idaho, 66 cross state lines and 85 are private fleets moving their own goods. A private-fleet truck, such as a contractor’s dump or a farm’s hay truck, is titled to the business, so have the person named on that title ready to sign.
General freight is the cargo listed by 97 of those Kuna carriers in the FMCSA census, followed by machinery and large objects at 35, grain, feed and hay at 31, and refrigerated food at 30. A lowboy or step-deck tractor, a hay-hauling flatbed and a reefer unit are all trucks we will look at; tell us the trailer type so we know whether it is part of the sale.
New registrations jumped in the FMCSA carrier census, from 9 new Kuna carriers in 2024 to 25 in 2025. If your authority is new and the truck is still titled under a lender, send the lien holder’s name along with the VIN and we will work the lien release into the paperwork.
Roadside model years and yearly miles for Kuna rigs
Across 118 Kuna-based trucks inspected at the roadside between 2024-09-10 and 2026-08-27, FMCSA roadside inspection records put the median model year at 2017, with 42.37 percent ten or more model years old. Whatever the year of yours, the registration card and the title give us the details we start from.
For the 47 Kuna carriers that report it to FMCSA, the median comes to 35,458 miles a year per truck. Read the odometer on the day you contact us and include it with the photos, since the figure on an old service invoice will be behind.
At the top end, Kuna’s three largest fleets list 27, 20 and 18 power units with FMCSA. A fleet owner selling several units at once can send one list of VINs, and keep each unit’s title with its line on the list.
Manufacturing, building sites and Ada County farms
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023 put 4,721 jobs in Kuna, with manufacturing at 1,000 of them, construction at 363 and transportation and warehousing at 71. Box trucks and straight trucks that run between local plants are within what we buy, and their registration and a few walk-around photos are enough to start.
For Kuna’s building trade, the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns record 136 construction establishments. A dump, water truck or flatbed that moves between job sites may be parked on a site when you call; tell us whether the site will still be open on the collection day.
In USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, Ada County has 1,142 farms, with milk, cattle and corn as the leading products. Milk tankers, cattle haulers and grain trucks kept on a farm outside Kuna can be collected from the farmyard, so include directions past the last paved road if the place is hard to find.
Driver range
Short runs and long hauls out of Kuna
In FMCSA’s carrier census, Kuna carriers list 196 drivers working within 100 miles and 298 working beyond that. A long-haul tractor may be on the road somewhere else when you decide to sell, so tell us where it will be parked at the end of its last run.
Local drivers are home each night, and their trucks tend to sit in a driveway or a yard in town. Give us the address, any gate code and a note on where the keys are kept, and nobody has to wait around for us.
The questions we get asked in Kuna
- Will you collect a dump truck left at Dixie River Pit outside Kuna?Dixie River Pit is 5.5 miles north-west of Kuna on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list, and we collect from the pit if the operator lets us in. Give us the operator’s contact so the pickup is set up with them.
- I haul hay for Ada County farms. Will you look at a flatbed or a hay truck?Grain, feed and hay is the cargo for 31 Kuna carriers in FMCSA’s carrier census, and hay trucks are on our list. Send the VIN, the title holder’s name and photos of the truck and the bed.
- My tractor is often on the road. Does it have to be in Kuna for you to collect it?FMCSA’s carrier census shows 298 Kuna drivers working more than 100 miles out, so plenty of trucks here are away from home. Tell us where yours will be parked and we will collect it there.
- Which papers does a Kuna seller need on hand for the first call? The title in the name of the seller, the current Idaho registration, the VIN and the odometer reading are the four things to have to hand. Photos of the cab, frame and tires help as well.
