Plants by the town line
Sand, gravel and stone at the north edge of Sandpoint
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists two sand and gravel operations, the Portable Wash Plant and Plant #3, each 0.4 miles north of Sandpoint. A dump truck or end-dump tractor that cycles between those plants and job sites around town may well be parked on or beside a plant yard when you call. Tell us which yard it is in and who holds the gate key, and the pickup is arranged around that.
Further up the road, the Mine Safety and Health Administration places Plant #2, a crushed-stone quarry, 9.6 miles north of town. If your aggregate truck has scale tickets or site sign-in sheets in the cab, leave them there with any service log; they show us where the truck has worked.
Mining, quarrying and oil and gas extraction account for 57 jobs in Sandpoint in 2023, per the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts. For an owner-operated gravel truck titled in your name, start by sending a clear photo of the title’s front and back.
Log trucks, lowboys and Bonner County freight
Of the 160 active carriers FMCSA’s carrier census places at Sandpoint, 45 list logs, poles, beams or lumber as cargo and 67 list machinery and large objects. Log trucks with bunks and stakes, and tractors pulling lowboys or step-decks, are both trucks we buy. Photograph the trailer setup as well as the tractor, and say whether the trailer goes with the sale.
Manufacturing holds 885 of the town’s 7,375 jobs in the 2023 LEHD figures from the Census Bureau, about 12 percent of the total. Sixty-five carriers in the FMCSA census haul general freight, and 19 carry farm supplies. Whatever the trailer carried, the information we ask for is the same: the VIN, the odometer reading and the name on the title.
Construction employs 376 people here, the LEHD job counts show, and County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau records 141 construction establishments. Dump bodies, flatbeds and service trucks from those crews are welcome; send a picture of the body and tell us what equipment is mounted on it.
Short runs and private fleets around Sandpoint
FMCSA’s census splits Sandpoint’s carriers into 104 intrastate and 56 interstate operations, and 109 of them run as private fleets hauling their own goods. If your truck is parked at a business lot rather than at your home, give us the lot’s address.
Drivers working within 100 miles outnumber those going beyond it, 302 to 184, according to the federal carrier census. Tell us the town, the road and whether a carrier can pull up beside the truck where it is parked in Bonner County.
Put the current odometer reading in your first message along with the VIN; those two numbers start every conversation.
Older and newer model years are both trucks we buy, so give us the year, make and model exactly as the title reads.
Three fleets in the FMCSA census run 56, 29 and 27 power units, and the carrier census logged 11 new Sandpoint carriers in 2025 and 10 in 2024. Whether you are selling one truck or several from a fleet, a list of VINs with the plate number beside each one lets us handle them together.
If a recent inspection report is in the cab or your files, include a photo of it. Registration, the title and any maintenance records round out what we need to see.
Herds, milk and horses on Bonner County farms
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 798 farms in Bonner County, with cattle, milk and equine listed as the leading products. Stock trucks, feed haulers and the pickups-and-flatbed rigs those farms keep are commercial trucks too, and we buy them off the farm where they are kept.
A truck on a ranch is often parked behind a gate or down a private lane. Tell us the farm address, a phone number for whoever will be there, and whether the ground is firm enough for a carrier to come in.
Farm trucks sometimes carry farm plates or a registration in the operation’s name rather than yours. Send a photo of the registration with the title, so the name we see on each matches before collection is planned.
Paperwork to gather before a Sandpoint pickup
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division Acoustic Research Detachment 21 miles south of Sandpoint. If your truck is parked on or near a restricted site like that one, tell us at the start and name who arranges access.
A missing title is replaced through the state’s title agency in Idaho before the sale closes. Start that request early and tell us it is under way; the rest of the details can be gathered while you wait for it.
If a lender is still listed on the title, say so and give us the lender’s name. Then send the VIN, the odometer reading, photos of all four sides and the cab, and the address where the truck sits.
