Danville carriers, for hire and private
Private fleets make up 113 of the 187 active Danville carriers on FMCSA’s census, trucks owned by the businesses whose loads they move. If your truck belongs to a farm, a contractor or a supply business in town, it counts the same as a for-hire tractor when you sell it to us. Have the title in the business’s name ready, along with whoever is authorised to sign for the company.
Of those 187 carriers, 128 are registered for intrastate work only and 59 cross state lines, according to the same FMCSA census. An Indiana-only truck still needs its registration and title to match the VIN on the door and frame, so check those three agree before you contact us.
Under FMCSA’s census, 12 Danville outfits took out fresh registrations in 2025, after 7 did so in 2024. If you started your authority recently and are now selling the truck that came with it, keep the purchase paperwork and the title together; a short ownership history is simple for us to follow.
Vans, lowboys and Hendricks County grain haulers
General freight is the commonest cargo class here, declared by 77 Danville carriers in FMCSA’s census, with machinery and large objects next at 37. A dry van tractor or a lowboy setup both fit what we buy; tell us whether a trailer is part of the sale or stays with you.
Grain, feed and hay appear on 26 carrier registrations and farm supplies on 20, per FMCSA’s carrier census. A grain truck parked at a farm lane outside town is a normal pickup for us, so send the address and a note on whether the ground there is firm enough for a tow rig in wet weather.
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 544 farms across Hendricks County, with corn, soybeans and hogs leading the list. If your truck hauls for one of them seasonally, photos of the cab, the bed or hopper, the tires and the VIN plate let us look it over before harvest or after it, whichever suits you.
Rail and fuel east of town
The ramp at Plainfield and the racks beyond Avon
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the Plainfield Intermodal Terminal 6.5 miles east of Danville, and the North American Rail Network shows the Avon rail yard at 7.2 miles in the same direction. A day cab that has pulled containers off those ramps can be collected from a drop yard near either one; give us the yard’s name and a contact who can let our driver in.
Two petroleum product terminals, Indianapolis at 9.4 miles and Raceway at 9.7 miles, both east of town, are listed by the Energy Information Administration. If your tractor has pulled fuel tankers out of those racks, say which hazmat endorsements and tank paperwork go with it, and keep the tanker’s own records separate from the truck’s.
Further along, the Vertellus rail yard sits 14.6 miles east on the North American Rail Network, and a military installation listed as NG Indianapolis 38 ID is 14.2 miles out according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Trucks parked anywhere in that corridor are within reach; we come to the truck rather than asking you to bring it to Danville.
Stone and aggregates
Kentucky Avenue stone and Riverside aggregates
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists the Kentucky Avenue Mine, a crushed-stone quarry, 15.4 miles east of town, and Riverside Aggregates & Materials, an industrial-mineral mine, 16.2 miles to the south-east. Dump trucks and tri-axles that have hauled from either pit are part of what we purchase.
If your dump truck is still parked at a quarry or a contractor’s yard, tell us whose property it sits on so the collection can be arranged with them. Have the title, the registration and any service records in one envelope, and add photos of the bed, the hoist and the frame.
Construction and wholesale work in town
Construction accounts for 191 of the 6,547 jobs located in Danville in 2023, which is 2.9 percent, by the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts. The Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns puts Danville’s construction establishments at 47, each a possible owner of dump, flatbed or service trucks. A contractor selling a dump truck, a flatbed or a service body truck can include more than one unit in the same conversation.
Manufacturing holds 123 local jobs and wholesale trade 100, again from the LEHD counts for 2023. Box trucks and straight trucks from a plant or a distribution floor are welcome; list each unit’s VIN so we can match titles to trucks before anyone visits.
Danville fleet sizes, routes and truck years
Three Danville fleets operate 30, 13 and 12 power units, each with a matching number of drivers, on FMCSA’s carrier census. If you are selling several trucks from a fleet that size, send a list of VINs, model years and where each one is parked, and we will work through them together.
Among 41 Danville carriers reporting mileage in FMCSA’s census, the median is 37,719 miles per truck per year. That census also puts 246 drivers on routes within 100 miles of base and 240 beyond it. Note the odometer reading when you photograph the dash.
FMCSA roadside inspection records from September 2024 to August 2026 covered 77 trucks from Danville carriers, with a median model year of 2020, and 20.8 percent were ten or more years old. Whatever the model year of yours, give us the year, make and VIN up front.
