Cut stone and crushed rock
Hauling block and aggregate between South Lake and Lowell
South Lake Stone, a dimension-stone quarry the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists about 6.7 miles north-west of DeMotte, is the nearest working pit to town. Flatbeds and boom trucks that move cut blocks out of a site like that are trucks we buy, and if yours is still parked at the quarry, tell us who controls the gate so we can arrange to reach it there.
Thirteen miles or so to the west, the US Aggregates-Lowell Quarry appears in Mine Safety and Health Administration records as a crushed-stone operation. Tri-axle dumps, end dumps and the tractors that pull them out of Lowell can be collected from the yard or from your driveway in DeMotte; send photos of the bed, the hoist and the cab along with the VIN.
The Francesville pit
Aggregate hauling south-east on the county roads
Down in the south-east, the Mine Safety and Health Administration places the US Aggregates-Francesville Quarry roughly 23.5 miles from DeMotte. A dump truck or belly-dump combination that runs gravel out of Francesville may sit at a farm, a shop or a job site when you decide to sell, and any of those is a fine place for us to meet it.
Keep the title in your own name and in reach before you call. If it has gone missing, Indiana’s title agency is the office that issues a replacement, and it helps to start that request early so the paperwork is ready when we schedule collection.
Freight, plant and building-site work
Of the 1,846 jobs counted in DeMotte for 2023 by the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts, 142 sit in transportation and warehousing, or 7.7 percent. Day cabs, straight trucks and sleepers from that kind of work are all trucks we collect around DeMotte.
The same LEHD figures put 103 jobs in manufacturing and 54 in construction, shares of 5.6 and 2.9 percent. Box trucks that make plant deliveries and the dumps and flatbeds that serve building sites are both on our list; have the registration and any service records together so the history of the truck is in one place when you send it over.
Dairy and grain country
Milk, corn and hogs across the county
Jasper County holds 608 farms according to USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, and its leading products there are milk, corn and hogs. Milk tankers, grain trailers pulled by tandem tractors, and livestock haulers are all trucks we collect straight from the farm lane where they are parked.
Tell us where on the property the truck stands and whether a loaded trailer is still hooked to it. Photos of the cab, the frame and the tires, plus the title, are what we need to get started.
Northern Indiana District
Port work up toward the lake
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists the Northern Indiana District port about 22.5 miles north-east of DeMotte. Tractors that haul steel, bulk or containers to and from that district may live in DeMotte between loads, and we can pick one up from home rather than from the port side.
If your rig is parked at a terminal up there instead, give us the terminal address and a name we can call for access. Send the VIN and an odometer photo with that address.
The questions we get asked in DeMotte
- Our tri-axle still sits inside the Lowell crushed-stone yard; can it be collected from there?Lowell’s crushed-stone quarry sits about 13.4 miles west of DeMotte on Mine Safety and Health Administration records, and we can collect from there. Give us the name of whoever keeps the Lowell yard keys and we will set the collection with that person.
- Will you buy a milk tanker that ran dairy routes around Jasper County?Milk is among the leading farm products in Jasper County in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, and tankers from that work are trucks we buy. Send the VIN, the title details and a few photos to begin.
- The DeMotte truck’s title has gone missing; which office reissues it?DeMotte sellers go to the state’s title agency in Indiana for a duplicate title. Start that request before you contact us, since the title transfers at collection.
