Sell your semi truck for cash in East Chicago the easy and convenient way

FMCSA’s carrier census lists 97 active carriers based in East Chicago, and 22 of them declare metal sheets, coils and rolls as cargo. Of those same 97 carriers, 16 haul logs, poles, beams and lumber and 13 carry machinery and large objects, according to the federal carrier census. The Michigan Ave rail yard sits 0.6 miles south-west of the city centre on the North American Rail Network, and the Lake Front yard lies 1.1 miles east. A truck parked near either yard can stay there; give us the street address and the name of whoever controls the gate, and the collection is planned around that access.

Two petroleum product terminals appear in Energy Information Administration listings within 1.4 miles of town, the East Chicago Terminal to the south-west and a second East Chicago site to the south-east. The Bureau of Transportation Statistics also places the Transflo CSXT liquid bulk terminal 2.2 miles south-west. If your tanker tractor served these sites, keep any terminal access cards, hazmat paperwork and service records with the title so they come to us in one packet.

Buffington Plant, a crushed-stone quarry on Mine Safety and Health Administration records, is 2.4 miles east of the city, and the Portage Operation quarry is 15.4 miles further along in the same direction. Dump trucks and tractors that haul aggregate from those pits can be collected at the quarry lot or your yard, whichever is easier for you.

Out at 22.2 miles east, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists the Northern Indiana District port. Trucks that shuttle between the lakefront docks and East Chicago do not need to be driven home first; tell us where the truck is parked and we arrange pickup there.

East Chicago carriers had 196 trucks pulled in for roadside checks over the two years to August 2026, and FMCSA’s inspection records put the middle model year of that group at 2023. The three biggest fleets registered in the city run 120, 119 and 60 power units, the carrier census shows, while many others are much smaller. For the 28 carriers here that report annual mileage to FMCSA, the median works out to 20,000 miles per truck. Carriers in the city report to FMCSA 318 drivers who stay within 100 miles and 300 who run beyond it, so your truck may be parked well outside Lake County when it is time to sell; tell us where it is.

The National Bridge Inventory counts 38 bridges in and around East Chicago, two of them with clearance under 14 feet and one posted for load. The lowest in the National Bridge Inventory is the I-90 westbound span over the NIPSCO access road, at 12 ft 4 in.
