Sand, gravel and stone west of Greenwood
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists IMI Greenwood Sand & Gravel 6.4 miles west of town and Belmont Sand & Gravel 7.5 miles to the north-west. If your dump truck or tri-axle hauls out of either pit, tell us which one and whether it is parked on the plant lot or at your yard, so the pickup is planned for the right gate.
Further out on the same side, Harding Street Quarry sits 8.1 miles north-west and the Kentucky Avenue Mine 9.9 miles away, both crushed-stone quarries on Mine Safety and Health Administration records. A truck kept on a quarry site still needs its Indiana title in hand when we arrive; if the title is lost, ask the state’s title agency for a replacement before you contact us.
Riverside Aggregates & Materials, an industrial-mineral mine, is listed by the Mine Safety and Health Administration about 7.1 miles west. Send photos of the bed, the hoist and the cab, plus the VIN plate, with your first message.
Greenwood’s tractors on the northbound rail run
Two rail yards, Hill at 9.9 miles and Senate Ave at 10.3 miles, both lie north of Greenwood on the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Day cabs that shuttle between those yards and Johnson County warehouses are among the tractors we buy, sleeper or not.
About 10.5 miles north, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the Indianapolis rail intermodal ramp. If your tractor pulls containers off that ramp, send us the registration and the VIN first, and say whether the truck is parked in Greenwood or up near the ramp; we collect it at either spot.
General freight and cold loads from Johnson County
Greenwood counts 1,508 active carriers on FMCSA’s carrier census, and 1,256 of them list general freight. For a tractor on van or flatbed work, have the title, the current registration and any service records together before you reach out.
On the same federal census, 298 local carriers haul refrigerated food, 298 haul meat and 297 haul fresh produce. If you are selling a reefer tractor, tell us whether the trailer goes with it or stays, and include a photo of the unit’s hour meter alongside the cab shots.
According to FMCSA, 1,172 of the local carriers run interstate, 336 stay inside Indiana, and 256 are private fleets hauling their own goods. A private-fleet truck titled to a business needs the signature of someone authorized to sign for that business, so line that person up before collection day.
Carriers that started in 2024 and 2025
FMCSA’s carrier census shows 158 new carriers registering here in 2024 and 180 in 2025. If you started an authority in either year and are now selling the tractor, have the title or the lienholder’s details ready; a truck still under a loan can be sold once we know who holds the lien.
Among the bigger operators in the census, one runs 191 power units with 46 drivers and another 116 power units with 104 drivers. Selling several trucks at once from a yard of that size is one conversation with us: send a list of VINs and where each unit is parked.
On the same FMCSA records, 793 carriers report mileage, with a median of 74,941 miles per truck. Note the odometer on each truck you list, since it goes on the title transfer.
Roadside inspections and local bridges
FMCSA roadside inspection records from August 2024 to August 2026 cover 1,981 trucks based here, with a median model year of 2020 and 11.6 percent ten or more years old. Whatever the year of yours, a copy of its last inspection report helps us match the truck to its paperwork.
Around Greenwood, 40 bridges appear in the Federal Highway Administration’s National Bridge Inventory; 4 carry load postings and not one has under 14 feet of clearance. Tell us the street where the truck is parked so our driver can plan a route that keeps clear of the posted spans.
Warehouse jobs, builders and Johnson County farms
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023 put 8,017 of Greenwood’s 38,183 jobs, 21 percent, in transportation and warehousing, with 2,542 in construction and 1,946 in manufacturing. Whether your truck served a distribution center or a job site, a phone photo of each side and the dash is the place to start.
Johnson County builders and storage firms show up in the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns as 198 construction establishments against 11 in warehousing. A contractor selling a dump truck or a straight truck should bring the title in the company’s name and the plate registration to the sale.
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 520 farms in Johnson County, with corn, soybeans and wheat at the top. A grain truck parked on a farm lane is no problem to collect; send a pin or the nearest road name with your photos.
