Pits south of town, quarries east and north-west
Seven miles below Hagerstown, on the road south, the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Cambridge City Pit as an active sand and gravel operation. A dump truck or tri-axle that hauls from there is often parked at the pit or at the owner’s yard, so tell us which when you get in touch and we will arrange the collection at that spot.
Heading east, Richmond Quarry is a crushed-stone site 17.6 miles out, and IMI Muncie Aggregates is another quarry 24.5 miles to the north-west, both per the Mine Safety and Health Administration. Owners of aggregate haulers working between them can send us the VIN, a few photos of the body and chassis, and the registration card to start.
IMI Luray Sand & Gravel adds a third pit, 15.5 miles north-west according to the Mine Safety and Health Administration. A truck split between Luray and the Cambridge City pit can be picked up wherever it sits that week; just give us the address.
Hagerstown haulers move feed, grain and farm machinery
Of the 26 active carriers that FMCSA’s carrier census places in Hagerstown, 8 list grain, feed and hay as cargo and another 8 list machinery and large objects. If your tractor has pulled a hopper or a lowboy for that work, have the title and any service records together before we talk.
Farm supplies show up for 5 local carriers and logs, poles, beams and lumber for 4, again on the federal motor carrier census. A straight truck that delivered seed or fertiliser around town and a log truck parked at a farm lane are both things we buy; photos of the cab, the bed and the data plate help us describe it back to you accurately.
Corn and soybean fields plus dairy barns surround Hagerstown, and the farms behind them number 727 for Wayne County in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture. Grain trucks, feed haulers and milk tankers parked on those farms can be collected where they stand, and the farm address is all we need to plan the visit.
Intrastate tractors and three-to-seven-truck yards
FMCSA’s carrier census shows 21 of the town’s carriers running intrastate only and 5 crossing state lines. For an Indiana-only truck, the Indiana title and current registration are usually the two papers that matter most; an interstate tractor should also come with its cab card if you still have it.
Drivers working close to home outnumber long-haul drivers here: the federal census records 37 working within a hundred-mile radius against 8 beyond it. Across the six local carriers that report mileage to FMCSA, the median truck covered 12,880 miles in a year, so most of these units come home to Hagerstown each night and that is where we expect to meet them.
Hagerstown’s three biggest operators run 7, 5 and 3 power units, by FMCSA’s registry. Selling two or three trucks at once from a small yard works the same as selling one; list each VIN and we will set up one visit for all of them.
Plant and building trades
Factory work and construction trucks in Hagerstown
Manufacturing makes up 37 percent of the 853 positions counted in Hagerstown for 2023 by the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts. Box trucks and flatbeds that shuttle parts to and from a plant are often titled to the business, so the person signing should be someone the title names or someone authorised for the company.
Fourteen building contractors operate in the area by the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns tally. Dump trucks, stake beds and equipment haulers from a contractor’s lot can be collected from that lot; send photos and the title, and say who holds the keys on the day.
New Castle branch
Replacing a missing title before you sell
For a Hagerstown seller, the closest Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles office handling duplicates is the New Castle BMV branch, 615 South Memorial Drive, New Castle, 47362, roughly 12.1 miles from town by the agency’s branch list. If the title is lost, start the duplicate application there before we arrange collection.
A title that still shows a lienholder needs the lien release with it. Bring that letter, your ID and the VIN to the New Castle branch if the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles needs to reissue the title in your name.
Connersville’s yard and the Knightstown guard post
The North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, puts the Connersville rail yard 18.7 miles south of town and a yard called East 22.4 miles to the north-west. A tractor that has shuttled loads to either yard can be picked up in Hagerstown or at the yard gate, whichever is easier for you.
NG Knightstown, a military installation on the Bureau of Transportation Statistics’ list, is 21.6 miles west along the same corridor. If your truck is stored out that way rather than in town, give us the exact address and any gate or access instructions so the driver arrives prepared.
