Gravel north of Huntertown, stone to the south
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Martin Pit, a sand and gravel operation 4.5 miles north-east of Huntertown, and Indian Springs, another 5.4 miles north. Dump trucks and tri-axles that load at either pit are trucks we buy. Our pickup crew meets the truck at your yard or at the pit gate. Name the pit and the person holding its gate key when you write.
Ardmore Stone Quarry, a crushed-stone quarry 13.2 miles south of town, appears in the same Mine Safety and Health Administration listing. If your truck hauls aggregate from Ardmore, photograph the body, the hoist and the cab, and keep the title and current Indiana registration together so both are ready when we come for it.
Garrett, Triple Crown and the terminals
According to the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, the Garrett rail yard lies 9.4 miles north and the Triple Crown yard 10.8 miles south. A day cab that shuttles trailers to either yard can be picked up wherever it is parked between runs; send the address and say whether a gate code is needed.
South of Huntertown by 10.9 miles, Norfolk Southern TBT is a liquid bulk terminal on the Bureau of Transportation Statistics list, while the Energy Information Administration places the Waterloo petroleum product terminal 15.9 miles north-east. Tractors that pull tankers between those two points are welcome here; send any loading-rack or inspection paperwork you kept along with the VIN.
Refuse, lumber and freight haulers at home
FMCSA’s carrier census shows 37 active carriers based in Huntertown, of which 28 run intrastate and 9 cross state lines. The same FMCSA census counts 27 of them as private fleets hauling their own goods. If the truck is titled to the company, have whoever signs for the business ready to sign the title.
Ten of those carriers list general freight in the federal carrier census, seven list garbage and refuse, six list machinery and large objects, and four haul logs, poles, beams or lumber. Roll-off and rear-load refuse trucks, lowboys and log trailers’ tractors all fit what we collect, so tell us the body type when you first get in touch.
Small fleets, a few at a dozen units
The three biggest Huntertown fleets in FMCSA’s census run 12 power units with 14 drivers, 8 units with 20 drivers, and 8 units with 7 drivers. An owner selling several trucks at once can list every VIN in one message, and we arrange the collection of all of them together from the home yard.
If your operation is newly set up and the truck still carries a lien from its purchase, tell us the lender’s name at the start so the payoff and title release can be lined up.
Plant floors, Allen County sites and corn ground
Of 1,635 jobs located in Huntertown in 2023, the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts put 387 in manufacturing, or 23.7 percent, and 221 in construction, or 13.5 percent. Box trucks and flatbeds that serve those plants and job sites can be photographed where they stand; send pictures of the cargo area along with the cab and the odometer.
Contractors among the 16 construction establishments that County Business Patterns, a Census Bureau series, lists in Huntertown can leave service records in the cab of a retiring dump truck or stake bed, and we take them with the keys.
Allen County had 1,497 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with corn, soybeans and hogs as the leading products. Grain trucks and livestock haulers parked on a farm lane are collected there; just tell us whether the lane takes a tow rig in wet weather.
The questions we get asked in Huntertown
- Martin Pit or Indian Springs is where my dump truck is parked; does it have to come out first?Martin Pit and Indian Springs, both listed by the Mine Safety and Health Administration, lie 4.5 and 5.4 miles from town, and we collect from either site. Send the pit name and who can open the gate.
