Fuel terminals west and east of the square
The Energy Information Administration lists a petroleum product terminal named Lebanon about 1.7 miles west of town, and a second one, Jolietville, about 12 miles east. If your tractor pulled tank trailers out of either one, tell us which terminal it loaded at and keep any site entry or inspection paperwork with the title.
A truck parked near the Lebanon terminal or back at a yard in Jolietville can stay right there. Give us the street address and the name of whoever can open the gate, and the collection gets planned around that spot rather than around you.
Corn, beans, hogs
Grain, feed and farm supply hauling
Corn leads soybeans and hogs across the 519 Boone County farms tallied in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture. Among carriers based in Lebanon, 39 haul grain, feed or hay and 33 carry farm supplies, according to FMCSA’s carrier census.
Grain trucks and straight trucks that run between fields and elevators often sit in a barn lot between harvests. Send a photo of the registration card and the VIN plate along with shots of the cab and frame, and tell us whether the farm lane is passable for a tow truck in wet weather.
Lebanon’s own carriers, mostly working in-state
FMCSA’s carrier census shows 208 active carriers based in Lebanon: 151 operate intrastate, 57 cross state lines, and 144 are private fleets hauling their own goods. On the same census’s cargo list, general freight leads with 66 carriers and machinery and large objects follow at 65.
By that same federal census, Lebanon carriers report 456 drivers working within 100 miles and 260 going further out. FMCSA puts the median at 17,972 miles a year per truck among 62 reporting carriers. If your truck belongs to a private fleet, bring the company’s authority to sell it and the name of the person who signs the title.
One locally registered fleet runs 80 power units with 80 drivers, and two others run 20 and 19 units, per FMCSA. Fleets of that size can list several trucks at once; send a spreadsheet of VINs and where each truck is parked.
Gravel pits and quarries north-west and east of Lebanon
US Aggregates’ Thorntown Sand & Gravel sits about 12.3 miles north-west, according to the Mine Safety and Health Administration. Carmel Sand & Gravel, 20.8 miles east, and Noblesville Stone, a crushed-stone quarry 21.8 miles east, appear on the same Mine Safety and Health Administration list.
Dump trucks and tri-axles that hauled from these pits may still be parked at a contractor’s yard. The Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns counts 67 construction establishments and 12 warehousing ones locally, so tell us which yard holds the truck and when someone there can meet the driver.
Plainfield’s intermodal ramp and the yards at Frankfort and Avon
Nineteen and a half miles south, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists the Indianapolis Plainfield Intermodal Terminal. The North American Rail Network adds a rail yard at Avon, 19.6 miles south, and another at Frankfort, 17.8 miles north.
Day cabs that shuttled containers off the Plainfield ramp usually log short runs. Write down the VIN and the odometer reading before you call, and say whether the truck is parked at a drayage lot near Avon or at home in Lebanon.
Warehouse and factory work alongside a younger fleet
Of 10,829 jobs counted in 2023 by the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts, 1,910 were in transportation and warehousing and 1,824 in manufacturing. The LEHD figures put wholesale trade at 534 jobs and construction at 554.
Roadside inspections recorded by FMCSA between September 2024 and August 2026 covered 108 Lebanon trucks, with a median model year of 2020 and 23.15 percent ten or more years old. Whatever the year of yours, have the title, the current registration and any service records together before pickup.
If the title is lost, the state’s title agency issues the replacement, and that request should start before we schedule collection. A lien release from the lender belongs in the same folder.
The questions we get asked in Lebanon
- My truck sits on a Boone County farm outside Lebanon. Must I tow it to Lebanon before you collect it?Boone County has 519 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, and trucks on any of them can be collected where they sit. Tell us the road, the lane and who will be there.
- Are low bridges a problem for collecting a tall truck here? The National Bridge Inventory lists 56 bridges in the Lebanon area with none under 14 feet, though 4 carry posted load limits. Mention the truck’s loaded weight so the route avoids those four.
- I ran a dump truck to the Thorntown pit. Will you take a gravel hauler like that?Thorntown Sand & Gravel, 12.3 miles north-west on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list, keeps dump trucks busy, and those trucks are part of what we purchase. Photos of the bed and hoist, the VIN and whose name is on the title get it started.
- What paperwork should a Lebanon fleet have ready? With 144 private fleets in FMCSA’s carrier census for Lebanon, the usual missing piece is proof of who can sign. Have the title, registration, a signed authority from the company and any lien release ready.
