Coal and gypsum roads
Antioch Mine on one side, Shoals Mine on the other
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Antioch Mine, a coal mine, 9.5 miles west of Loogootee, and Shoals Mine, an industrial-mineral mine, 10.8 miles to the east. A tri-axle or a tractor that has spent its shifts on either haul road can stay right where it is parked; give us the gate or yard address and the name of whoever holds the key.
Further east along the same corridor, Mitchell Quarry sits 17.6 miles out and Cave Quarries Inc 21.4 miles out, both crushed-stone quarries on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s register. If your dump truck or end-dump trailer last worked one of those pits, tell us which one, and send photos of the bed, the hoist and the VIN plate with the cab shots.
Base and stone country
Crane, Bloomfield and Eureka
Naval Support Activity Crane, a military installation, lies 12.7 miles north-east of Loogootee according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. If your truck is kept near the base and you have since moved on, it does not need to come back to town for us to collect it; tell us the road it is on and who can meet the driver.
Eureka Underground, a dimension-stone quarry, is 22.9 miles north-east on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list, and Yard 78 - Bloomfield, a sand and gravel operation, is 24.2 miles due north. Flatbeds hauling cut block and dump trucks hauling aggregate from either site are the kind of equipment we pick up, so list the trailer or body type when you first get in touch.
Southwest rail
The ASHBY yard to the south-west
Loogootee’s nearest listed rail yard, ASHBY, lies 24.4 miles toward the south-west on the North American Rail Network that the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics maintain. A day cab that shuttles loads to and from that yard can be collected wherever it is staged, as long as you send the address and a phone number for the lot.
If the truck is sitting on a railside lot you do not control, ask the yard manager for a written note that lets our driver in. Having that note before the pickup is booked saves a second trip for everyone.
Loads on Loogootee’s registered trucks
Of the 101 Loogootee-based motor carriers active on FMCSA’s carrier census, general freight is the cargo line 38 of them tick. Another 36 on the same FMCSA register list machinery and large objects, the work of lowboys, step-decks and the tractors that pull them; for one of those, tell us the trailer’s deck length and axle count along with the tractor’s VIN.
Timber is close behind: 25 Loogootee carriers on FMCSA’s carrier census list logs, poles, beams and lumber, and 18 list grain, feed and hay. A log truck with a loader or a hopper-bottom grain rig is welcome; photograph the loader or the hopper gates as well as the cab.
Most of these outfits stay inside Indiana. The FMCSA census shows 75 intrastate carriers against 26 that run interstate, and 76 registered as private fleets hauling their own goods, so the title on an in-state truck will usually be an Indiana one.
Owner-operators and the handful of bigger Loogootee outfits
The three biggest Loogootee fleets on FMCSA’s carrier census run seven, seven and six power units, each with a driver per truck. Whether you are selling one tractor or retiring a whole small fleet, send a list of the VINs and where each unit is parked, and we will plan the collections together.
New operators keep arriving: the FMCSA register added 8 Loogootee carriers in 2024 and 7 in 2025. If you started up recently and are now selling, have the registration and the title in the name on your authority, or tell us if the truck is still under a lender’s lien.
Loogootee’s median truck ran 20,098 miles a year across the 23 local carriers that reported mileage to FMCSA. Have the current odometer reading ready when you call, alongside the VIN, since those are the first two things we ask for.
Martin County rigs pulled in for a roadside check
Between September 2024 and July 2026, inspectors pulled over 28 trucks belonging to Loogootee carriers, and FMCSA roadside inspection records put their median model year at 2015.5. In the same FMCSA roadside records, just over 53 percent of inspected trucks were ten or more model years old, so expect us to ask for the year, make and model up front.
If you kept the roadside inspection reports, or annual inspection stickers and service invoices, put them in the cab or scan them with the photos. They let us confirm the truck’s details without a second round of questions.
Hog barns, row crops and building crews
Around Loogootee, USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 249 farms across Martin County, with hogs, corn and soybeans as the leading products. A straight truck with a livestock box or a grain body that has been working those barns and fields can be picked up from the farm itself; give us the lane and the gate it sits behind.
County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau puts 56 construction establishments in the area, and the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts record 931 jobs in Loogootee for 2023. Contractors parking a dump truck or flatbed at a job site rather than a yard should send the site address and a contact on site for the day of pickup.
Cooper Street
Loogootee’s own Bureau of Motor Vehicles counter, steps from the town centre
The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles runs its BMV branches as the place to replace a title, and the Loogootee branch is at 129a Cooper St, Loogootee, 47553, about 0.2 miles from the centre of town. If the title is missing, start a duplicate title application with the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles before we schedule the pickup.
Bring photo ID and the VIN to the Cooper Street branch, and if a lender still holds a lien, ask them for a lien release first. Once the title is in the name on the registration, the sale can go ahead.
