Sand pits and stone along the road east of Monrovia
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Littleton & Sons Sand & Supply about 10 miles east of Monrovia and Yard 72 - Waverly a little further out at 10.8 miles. A dump truck or end-dump tractor that runs between those pits and job sites is often parked at the yard between loads, so give us that address rather than your home address when you get in touch.
Riverside Aggregates & Materials, an industrial-mineral mine, appears in Mine Safety and Health Administration records 13.4 miles east of town, and the Kentucky Avenue Mine, a crushed-stone quarry, sits 17.1 miles to the north-east. If your truck hauls from any of these, photograph the body, the hoist and the cab, and keep the registration in the glovebox so it is there when we arrive.
The intermodal ramp and the Avon yard to the north-east
Plainfield Intermodal Terminal, recorded by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics as a rail intermodal ramp, lies 12.9 miles north-east of Monrovia. If your day cab shuttles containers off that ramp, tell us which lot the tractor sits in and whether a chassis is still hooked up.
Further along the same heading, the North American Rail Network shows the AVON rail yard 13.3 miles away, and the Energy Information Administration places the INDIANAPOLIS petroleum product terminal at 17.1 miles. A tractor that has pulled tankers or rail freight from either spot can be collected where it is parked, with the title and the last service records ready to hand over.
According to FMCSA’s carrier census, 45 carriers based here are active, and 24 of them list general freight among their cargo. Sixteen haul machinery and large objects, eight carry farm supplies, and seven move logs, poles, beams or lumber, so a flatbed, lowboy or log trailer setup is as likely here as a box van.
The same FMCSA carrier census counts 27 intrastate operators and 18 that cross state lines, with 25 running private fleets for their own goods. The three biggest operations in that FMCSA census hold 11, 8 and 6 power units. If you run one of those few-truck outfits and are selling a single unit, bring its registration and annual inspection sheet, and we deal with the truck alone.
FMCSA’s census also records 55 drivers working inside a hundred-mile radius and 71 driving beyond it, so a Monrovia truck may be at home in the yard or several states away when you call; tell us where it will be on the day.
Add a photo of the door sticker and the most recent inspection report, and the rest of our questions get short.
Corn, soybeans, hogs and building work around town
Grain trucks and livestock haulers have plenty of farmland to serve: Morgan County holds 506 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with corn, soybeans and hogs leading. A farm truck often lives in a machine shed or at the edge of a field, so describe the lane in and whether a tow rig can turn around there.
County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau records eight construction establishments in the Monrovia area, and the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023 put local employment at 597 positions. If your truck works for a builder, a farm or another small local employer, the person whose name is on the title is the one who signs, so have them at the pickup or sign ahead.
Indiana titles are issued by the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles, and its duplicate title application is handled through BMV branches.
If the title is missing, start the duplicate at that branch before you contact us, and tell us it is in progress. If a lender still holds the title, have the payoff letter and the lienholder’s contact details on hand so the release can be arranged.
