Oolitic’s north-west edge: Empire and Nikirk
Empire Quarry lies 0.6 miles north-west of Oolitic, and Nikirk Limestone is 0.7 miles out on the same bearing; the Mine Safety and Health Administration records both as dimension-stone quarries. A flatbed or heavy tractor that has hauled cut blocks off those benches may still be parked on a quarry lot rather than in a driveway.
