If your truck is a grain hopper tractor or a feed delivery straight truck, tell us what body or trailer it runs with, and whether that stays with the sale or comes off before we collect it.
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 608 farms in Jasper County, with milk, corn and hogs at the top of the list. A truck that has spent its life between barns, bins and elevators is often parked on the farm itself; give us the farm address and a note on the lane or yard where it sits, and we plan the collection there.
Twenty-one Rensselaer carriers on the FMCSA census carry dry bulk commodities. For a bulk tractor, send a photo of the VIN plate and the title front and back, plus the trailer’s own paperwork if you are selling the pair together.
Stone quarries east of town and the yards at Monon
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists the US Aggregates-Francesville Quarry 15.1 miles east of Rensselaer and Ward Stone 15.2 miles east, both crushed-stone operations. If your dump truck or end-dump tractor has been hauling out of either pit, it can stay where it is parked between loads; tell us which site and who can let us in.
Up north, South Lake Stone is a dimension-stone quarry 23.8 miles away on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list. Flatbed tractors that move cut stone have different equipment from aggregate haulers, so mention the deck, tie-downs and any loading gear when you describe the truck.
If the truck has been shuttling loads to either yard, say so up front and include the registration, so we know which state plates it carries.
Small fleets, private trucks and local runs
Private fleets make up 61 of the town’s carriers in the FMCSA census, against 49 authorised for interstate work and 62 that stay inside Indiana. A farm or business that owns its own truck can sell it to us the same way a for-hire carrier does; the title in the owning name is the main thing we need.
Fleet sizes in Rensselaer’s FMCSA records run small: the three biggest registrations hold 27, 25 and 22 power units. If you are selling more than one truck from a yard of that size, list each VIN, and we will arrange the collection around the trucks you can spare and when.
FMCSA’s carrier census shows 121 drivers working within 100 miles of base here and 214 beyond that. For 44 carriers reporting mileage, the census puts median miles per truck at 29,857 a year; have the current odometer reading ready when you call.
Older model years are part of what we buy; read the year, make and model straight off the title when you contact us.
Those same inspection records put about 57 percent of the inspected trucks at ten or more years old. If you have the most recent inspection report for your truck, keep it with the title; it gives us the inspection date and the unit details in one document.
Manufacturing, wholesale and construction jobs in town
Box trucks and tractors that deliver to plants and warehouses in town usually sit at a loading dock or a company lot, so tell us whose property it is on so pickup can be cleared with them.
Transportation and warehousing accounts for 66 of those jobs in LEHD’s 2023 figures. County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau records 18 construction establishments, and a dump truck or crew-cab flatbed from one of those outfits is welcome; send photos of the cab, frame and tires along with the body.
If the Indiana title is missing, get a replacement from the state’s title agency before the sale closes. Start that early, and keep the registration and any lien release together with it.
None of the 39 bridges the National Bridge Inventory lists for the area is load-posted, and none clears under 14 feet. For a truck parked on a farm outside town, tell us the nearest crossroads and which gate to use.
