Bromley, Covington and the yards at Ludlow and DeCoursey
The Energy Information Administration lists the Bromley Terminal, a petroleum product terminal, 3.4 miles north-east of Erlanger, with a second one at Covington 5.1 miles out in the same direction. A tank tractor that loads at either rack can stay parked at your yard or lot in Kenton County while we look at it; send the VIN, the title and a photo of each side of the cab first.
Rail sits close as well: the Ludlow yard is 4.6 miles north-east, and DeCoursey lies 7.4 miles east, both on the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. If your day cab shuttles boxes or loads between those yards and nearby docks, note which yard it worked from and where it is parked tonight, and we plan the collection from that address.
Sand pits and quarries west and south of town
West of Erlanger, the Mine Safety and Health Administration records Belleview Sand & Gravel at 12.6 miles and an operation called Plant #1 at 14.8 miles. Dump trucks and tri-axles that haul from those pits are often kept at the pit or at a contractor’s shop, so tell us which one, and whether a gate code or an escort is needed to reach it.
Two crushed-stone quarries appear in Mine Safety and Health Administration records too: MLC - Verona, 16.5 miles south-west, and Butler Quarry, 21.8 miles south-east. A stone hauler working either one can be collected at the quarry lot; have the registration in the cab, the title in hand and any scale tickets or service logs you keep in one folder.
Freight, coils and paper on Erlanger’s carrier roll
Of the 98 active carriers that call Erlanger home, general freight is on the cargo list of 44, going by FMCSA’s carrier census. Sixteen list machinery and large objects, nine list metal sheets, coils and rolls, and eight list paper products, all on that same federal register. Flatbeds, step-decks and van tractors all fit that mix, so tell us the trailer type the truck pulled and whether the trailer is part of the sale.
Of those carriers, the same federal census counts 51 as interstate and 47 as intrastate, and 58 run private fleets moving their own goods. A private-fleet straight truck carries the company’s name on its title, so the person signing for the business should be the one we deal with, with a letter of authority if someone else handles the sale.
New registrations continue: FMCSA’s census logs six carriers added in Erlanger in 2025 and five in 2024. If you started up recently and are now selling the tractor, have the lienholder’s payoff letter or lien release with the title so the transfer can go through cleanly.
Roadside checks, odometers and short-haul drivers
Roadside stops logged by FMCSA from September 2024 to August 2026 checked 120 Erlanger-based trucks; half were model year 2021 or newer, and 20.8 percent had reached ten years or more. Whatever year yours is, send the year, make and model with the VIN so we know exactly which truck we are looking at.
Twenty-seven local carriers report mileage to FMCSA, and their median comes to 10,000 miles per truck in a year. Federal census figures also put 323 drivers working within 100 miles of base and 217 running farther out. A short-haul truck parked between local runs is easy to find; give us the odometer reading as it stands today and the days it sits idle.
Lone owner-operators beside Erlanger’s bigger outfits
Erlanger’s biggest registered fleet runs 152 power units with 144 drivers, according to FMCSA’s carrier census; the next two list 25 units with 67 drivers and 22 units with 22 drivers. If you are selling several trucks at once, a list with each VIN, its unit number and where it is parked lets us plan one collection route rather than visit each truck separately.
Most carriers on the census here are far smaller than those three. One owner-operator selling one tractor goes through the same steps: the title in your name, a photo ID, and the keys at the truck on the day we arrive.
Docks, plant floors and contractors around Erlanger
Transportation and warehousing hold 2,369 of Erlanger’s 11,470 jobs, a 20.7 percent slice, in the Census Bureau’s 2023 LEHD job counts. Manufacturing accounts for 2,100 jobs and construction 543 in the LEHD figures, while wholesale trade adds 447. Box trucks, yard tractors and delivery straight trucks working those warehouses and plants can be collected at the dock, provided the site lets a driver in.
Erlanger has 51 builders’ establishments against 11 in warehousing, as the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns tallies them. A contractor’s dump truck or flatbed stored at a job site should come with directions to the spot and a name to call on site.
Out across Kenton County, USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 453 farms, with honey, equine and goats as their top lines. A farm truck or horse-trailer tractor kept in a barn lot is collected from there; just tell us whether the lane takes a full-size tow rig.
The questions we get asked in Erlanger
- My tank tractor is parked at the Bromley terminal. Does it have to come off the rack lot first?Bromley sits 3.4 miles north-east of Erlanger on the Energy Information Administration’s list of petroleum product terminals, and we collect from there. Give us the terminal contact so access is arranged before we arrive.
- My tri-axle runs Butler Quarry loads. Will you collect it from the quarry itself?Butler Quarry is 21.8 miles south-east of Erlanger in Mine Safety and Health Administration records, and a quarry lot is a normal place for us to collect. Tell us the gate hours and who signs trucks out.
- Our company runs a private fleet of straight trucks. Whose signature goes on the Erlanger paperwork?Fifty-eight Erlanger carriers in FMCSA’s carrier census run private fleets, and for each the business named on the title signs. Send the officer’s name and a letter authorising whoever handles the sale.
- Which documents should an Erlanger seller pull together? For a truck from Erlanger, that means the Kentucky title, the current registration, a photo ID and any service or inspection records. Add photos of the cab, frame and tires so we see the truck before we arrive.
