Coal mines and preparation plants north of Louisa
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists DREDGE #1, a coal mine 5.1 miles north of Louisa, and Job 5, another coal mine 16.9 miles to the south-west. A dump truck or tractor that has shuttled between those sites may be parked at a mine office rather than in a driveway. Give us the site name and a contact who can let us through the gate, and we arrange the collection there.
North of Louisa, the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists two coal preparation plants, one at 13.8 miles and the Kentucky Coal Terminal at 14.4 miles. If your truck has hauled raw coal into either plant, tell us which one and roughly how long it ran that route. Photos of the bed, the frame and the cab, taken where the truck stands, answer most of our questions before we ask them.
Coal and coke is the cargo class 19 Louisa-area carriers list in FMCSA’s carrier census. Whether your truck carried coal for one of those operators or for your own outfit, have the title and current registration in hand when you call; those two papers let us move from the first conversation to a pickup plan.
Quarry and racks
Limestone loads and asphalt racks above Louisa
AA Limestone, a crushed-stone quarry the Mine Safety and Health Administration places 13.2 miles north-west of Louisa, draws dump trucks and tri-axles off the county roads. If yours has spent its days loading at the quarry face, send the VIN and the odometer reading first; every other question follows from those.
Farther north, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists Marathon Petroleum’s liquid bulk terminal 17.5 miles from town, and the Energy Information Administration lists two petroleum product terminals, VINEY BRANCH at 17.7 miles and BIG SANDY - ASPHALT at 22.3 miles. Tank tractors and asphalt haulers that load at those racks are trucks we purchase. Keep any terminal paperwork or service records with the truck so its history travels with the photos.
FMCSA’s carrier census counts 112 active carriers in and around Louisa; 34 list general freight, 25 list machinery and large objects, and 22 list logs, poles, beams and lumber. A lowboy that moved equipment between job sites or a log truck both fit what we buy. Describe the axles, the trailer it pulls and whether it has a sleeper, so the photos you send make sense to us.
Louisa’s carrier mix leans local: FMCSA’s census shows 76 of the 112 working only inside Kentucky, 36 crossing state lines, and 64 running as private fleets for their own goods. If your truck has stayed inside Kentucky its whole working life, its Kentucky title and registration are all we need to start.
New registrations keep arriving: FMCSA’s census shows 10 new carriers around Louisa in 2025 and 6 in 2024. A small operator who bought in recently and has decided to step back can sell to us the same way a long-standing fleet does, one truck or several.
Drivers who stay close and drivers who range out of Louisa
Drivers based around Louisa split between short and long work: FMCSA’s carrier census records 133 drivers who stay inside a hundred-mile radius and 159 who range past it. A truck that runs long may be parked at a terminal or a relative’s lot when you decide to sell. Wherever it sits, give us the address and we collect it there.
Across 26 local carriers that report mileage, the median comes to 12,381 miles per truck each year, per FMCSA’s census filings. Have the current odometer reading ready when you contact us, along with the VIN plate photo.
The largest fleets here are modest, with FMCSA listing operations of 33 power units and 42 drivers, 31 power units and 35 drivers, and 9 power units and 7 drivers. If you run a handful of tractors and want to sell more than one, list each VIN and where each truck is parked, and we plan the pickups together.
Older and newer trucks alike are welcome; tell us the year, make and model in your first message.
Just under two in five of those Louisa trucks, 39.6 percent in FMCSA’s roadside inspection records, carried a model year ten or more years back. If yours is one of them, the paperwork matters more than the age: a clear Kentucky title, the registration and any service records you kept.
