Tank tractor loading gates
Two product terminals inside six miles
The Energy Information Administration places a petroleum product terminal, CORP EMCC L3 302, 3.9 miles south-west of Brownfields, and lists another under the name Baton Rouge at 5.2 miles in that same direction. A tank tractor that loads at either gate may be parked at a yard between them when you reach us, so give us that street address rather than your home one.
If your tanker spent years shuttling product out of those two Baton Rouge-area terminals, gather its registration, the title and any inspection or service sheets kept in the cab. Daylight photos of the tank, the hose reels and the fifth wheel belong in the first message too.
Dredging and aggregate
Sand and gravel pits east and south-west
Wyandotte Dredging, a sand and gravel operation on Mine Safety and Health Administration records, lies 5.3 miles south-west; a second site called Cross is listed by that same agency 8.4 miles east. Dump trucks and end-dump trailers hauling aggregate out of pits like these are trucks we buy, so tell us which site yours ran from.
A dump truck parked beside a pit gate or on a contractor’s lot can stay put. Send the VIN, a clear photo of the bed and hoist, and the name of whoever holds the gate key, and we can plan collection at Wyandotte, at Cross or wherever it sits.
Railheads with bulk berths
Rail yards and bulk docks toward the river
Two rail yards appear on the North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration together with the Bureau of Transportation Statistics: one named Baton Rouge at 5.8 miles and Baton Rouge (CN) at 6.1 miles, both south-west of Brownfields. Day cabs that pull containers or flatbeds away from those yards often come home to Brownfields between loads, and we can collect from a driveway as readily as from a terminal lot.
Liquid bulk terminals add another stop: the Bureau of Transportation Statistics records one called Baton Rouge 6.3 miles off and a site named Liquid Bulk Terminals at 8.3 miles, each lying south-west. For a tractor that worked those docks, a short note listing which terminals it served helps us match the truck to its paperwork.
Parish payrolls
Builders, cattle and soybeans near the town
For 2023, 410 jobs were based in Brownfields itself, by the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts (LODES). County Business Patterns lists 10 construction establishments, the kind of outfit that runs dump trucks, flatbeds and service bodies from a home yard.
Across the parish, USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture tallies 435 farms in East Baton Rouge, with cattle, soybeans and equine listed as the leading products. Livestock haulers, grain trucks and horse-trailer tractors from those operations are welcome; tell us where on the farm the truck is parked so a driver can reach it.
Papers to have on hand in East Baton Rouge Parish
Start with the title in your name. If it has gone missing, the state’s title agency issues a replacement, and it helps to begin that request before we schedule the collection so nothing waits on paper.
Alongside the title, keep the current registration, the VIN and any maintenance log in one folder. A few photos of the cab interior, the dash with the ignition on, and each side of the truck round out what we need to look at it properly.
The questions we get asked in Brownfields
- My tractor stays at a lot by the Baton Rouge rail yards; is pickup from there an option? The North American Rail Network puts the Baton Rouge yard 5.8 miles south-west of Brownfields, and pickup from a lot near it is fine. Tell us who controls the gate so access is arranged in advance.
- Do you buy dump trucks that haul out of the local sand and gravel pits?Wyandotte Dredging, 5.3 miles away on Mine Safety and Health Administration records, is the sort of site those trucks serve, and we buy them. Send the VIN and photos of the bed to begin.
- My Louisiana truck title has gone missing; who replaces it?In Louisiana a replacement comes from the state’s title agency; ask for it as early as you can. Meanwhile send us the VIN and registration so the rest can move along.
- Will you buy a cattle trailer tractor from a parish farm?Cattle top the list for East Baton Rouge Parish’s 435 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, and tractors from that work are trucks we buy. Give us the farm’s address and where on it the truck is parked.
