Two Mt Airy terminals and the MPLX dock up the river
The Energy Information Administration lists two petroleum product terminals under the name MT AIRY, at 16.6 and 16.8 miles north-east of Chackbay. A tank truck or tractor that loads at either one can be sold from your driveway in Chackbay; give us the street address and say which Mt Airy terminal it ran to.
Just past them, at 17.4 miles north-east, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics records a liquid bulk terminal operated as MPLX. Owners of tankers that worked the MPLX dock should photograph the tank, the cab and the plate, and keep the Louisiana title and registration in one envelope with those pictures.
Shell to the south-west
The Shell liquid bulk terminal on the other side of town
Not every bulk run from Chackbay heads toward the river: a Shell liquid bulk terminal appears in Bureau of Transportation Statistics records 17.6 miles to the south-west. Say in your first message whether your tractor pulled toward Shell or toward Mt Airy, since that tells us roughly where along the route it may be parked.
Drivers who kept a log of loads out of the Shell site can pass that log along with the VIN and the plate number. If no log exists, two or three lines describing the trailers it pulled and the yard it sleeps in do the same job.
Rail and docks at the Port of South Louisiana
On the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, a rail yard named PT OF SOUTH LOUISIANA sits 19.9 miles north-east of Chackbay. Container chassis tractors and flatbeds that shuttle freight off that yard are trucks we collect wherever they are left, in Chackbay or near the rail yard.
A little further out, 21.1 miles north-east, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists the Port of South Louisiana itself. For a tractor kept inside a port or terminal lot, send the gate location and the name of whoever can let a tow truck in, so the pickup can be arranged with them directly.
Gramercy and fill sand
Gramercy Operation and the fill pits to the north-west
Sixteen and a half miles north-east of Chackbay, the Mine Safety and Health Administration registers Gramercy Operation as a mineral processing plant. Dump trucks and end-dump tractors from that run are on our list; tell us the body type, the axle count and the make when you get in touch.
South Louisiana Fill Materials, LLC runs a sand and gravel operation 20 miles north-west of town, according to the same Mine Safety and Health Administration register. A dump truck parked at the pit can stay there for collection, provided you tell us the pit entrance and keep the title signed by the owner shown on it.
Lafourche payrolls and pastures
Chackbay jobs, parish builders and cattle farms
Chackbay held 271 jobs in 2023, according to the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts (LODES), in a community of 5,436 residents. Owner-drivers in Chackbay should have the title in their own name and a driver’s licence to hand when they contact us.
In the area, the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns lists 77 construction establishments. Lafourche Parish counts 339 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with cattle, goats and hogs at the top of its livestock. Builders’ dump trucks and the livestock haulers from those farms are both trucks we buy; a photo of each side plus the cab is enough to start.
FMCSA roadside inspection records from September 2024 to August 2026 cover 119 trucks tied to the area, and their median model year is 2020. Have the model year and the VIN plate photo ready, since both figures go on the title paperwork either way.
Among the 119 trucks in those FMCSA roadside inspection records, 26.9 percent carried a model year ten or more years back. Older and newer trucks are bought the same way here: a signed Louisiana title, current registration and the location where the truck is parked.
