Honey Island and the NSA wet plant
Amrize Honey Island Operations, a sand and gravel operation, is recorded by the Mine Safety and Health Administration 5 miles north-east of Eden Isle, close enough that a dump truck hauling from it may never leave the parish. If yours has been loading there, tell us that when you first get in touch, and send the VIN along with a photo of the door plate.
A second pit, the NSA Wet Plant, appears in Mine Safety and Health Administration records 11 miles north of town. Trucks that load at a wet plant are often parked at the pit yard rather than at the owner’s house; give us the gate address and the name of whoever can let us in, and the truck can be collected right where it sits.
Construction jobs on the island
Of the 845 jobs counted in Eden Isle for 2023, the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts place 250 in construction, a 29.6 percent share. Concrete mixers, flatbeds, small dump trucks and crew trucks all serve that kind of work, and we buy each of them. Have the title in the name on the registration before you call, so the paperwork lines up from the first conversation.
Contractors in Eden Isle often own one or two trucks rather than a yard full. If yours is a single truck kept in a driveway or beside a job trailer, photos of the cab, the frame, the bed or body and all four corners are what we ask for first. Service receipts from local shops help too, whatever state they are in.
Freight work
Trucking and warehouse jobs
Transportation and warehousing account for 64 jobs in Eden Isle, or 7.6 percent of the total, according to the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023. Day cabs, sleepers, box trucks and straight trucks from that work are all on our list. Write down the odometer reading and the engine make before you contact us; those two answers settle most of our early questions.
Drivers here who lease onto another operation still hold the title to their own tractor. If that is your situation, bring the title, the current registration and any lease release you were given, and we deal with you directly as the owner.
Across the lake
Port, rail yards and the intermodal ramp
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the New Orleans port 16.5 miles south-west of Eden Isle, and lists the New Orleans rail intermodal ramp at 21.7 miles in the same direction. A container chassis tractor that works those docks can be picked up at a drayage lot in the city just as easily as at home; send us the lot address and the name of whoever runs the gate.
Two rail yards sit on that side as well: Gentilly at 18.5 miles and Gulf Gateway Terminal at 19.1 miles, both south-west, per the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. A tractor that works those yards can stay on the south shore of the lake; leave it where it is parked and we will arrange collection there.
Guard posts
Guard installations at Villere and Jackson
NG Camp Villere, a military installation, lies 6.8 miles north of Eden Isle on Bureau of Transportation Statistics records, and NG Jackson Bks is listed by the same agency 21.7 miles to the south-west. Service members and contractors who keep a personal truck while posted at either one can sell it without being on site for the pickup.
If you are on orders or away for drill weekends, name someone who holds the keys, sign the title over in the right place, and tell us where the truck is parked. A copy of the registration and a clear photo of the title, front and back, let us check everything before the truck is collected.
Livestock and grain
Farm trucks across the parish
St. Tammany Parish had 845 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with cattle, horses and corn listed as its leading products. Stock trucks, grain trucks and tractors that haul livestock trailers off those farms are trucks we buy, along with flatbeds used to move hay.
Farm trucks in the parish are often titled to a family member or kept on farm plates. If the name on the title is not yours, or the title has gone missing, the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles handles duplicates, and having that sorted before we arrive keeps the sale with the person who owns the truck.
