Fuel to the north-west
Two Baton Rouge fuel terminals up the road
The Energy Information Administration lists a Baton Rouge petroleum product terminal 6.1 miles north-west of Inniswold and a second one 8 miles out in the same direction. A tractor that has shuttled tank trailers between those two gates is exactly the kind of Inniswold truck we collect, so tell us which terminal it loaded at and whether it pulled its own trailer.
Terminal work usually leaves a trail of site entry papers and tank inspection sheets in the cab. Gather whatever of that you kept, along with the title and the registration, and photograph the tractor from all four corners before you call; for a tanker unit, add a shot of the trailer’s data plate.
Liquid Bulk Terminals, due west
Two sites named Liquid Bulk Terminals appear in Bureau of Transportation Statistics records west of town, one at 8.3 miles and one at 8.5. If your Inniswold rig spends its days backed up to one of those docks, it may be sitting there right now, and that is where we can pick it up once the site lets us in.
Give us the dock address and the name of whoever controls the gate at whichever of the two docks the truck is on. A VIN photo and an odometer photo taken on the dock save a second trip out west to confirm what the paperwork says.
The KCS and CN yards in Baton Rouge
Per the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, the Baton Rouge (KCS) yard lies 7.6 miles north-west of Inniswold and the Baton Rouge (CN) yard 8.8 miles off on that same heading. Day cabs that run drayage between those yards and nearby warehouses are part of what we buy from owners around here.
Drayage tractors trade hands with their logbooks and yard passes still in the door pocket. Pull those out, note which of the two yards the tractor worked, and send us that along with the plate number so we can match the truck to its registration.
Freight and warehouse work around Inniswold
Of the 6,023 jobs the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts placed in Inniswold for 2023, 366 were in transportation and warehousing, a 6.1 percent share. Wholesale trade added 148 jobs, construction 89 and manufacturing 50, each figure again from that LEHD series.
Behind the transportation and warehousing jobs sit box trucks, straight trucks and tractors, and those are all trucks we will look at. If the truck you want to sell belongs to a wholesale or construction outfit you own, have the business name on the title match the name on your registration before we come.
Sand, gravel, cattle
Dredging, farms and the military reserve
Eleven miles north-west, the Mine Safety and Health Administration records Wyandotte Dredging as a sand and gravel operation. Dump trucks and tri-axles that haul from a pit like that are welcome here; send us the axle count and the body length with your photos.
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counted 435 farms in East Baton Rouge Parish, with cattle, soybeans and horses as the leading lines. A cattle hauler, a grain truck or a rig that pulls a horse trailer around the parish fits our list as well, and we collect from the farm gate.
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics also places the NG Baton Rouge AFRC, a military installation, 5 miles south-west of Inniswold. If your truck is parked near that reserve centre, tell us so we can plan our approach around the access rules there.
The questions we get asked in Inniswold
- My tanker tractor sits inside a Baton Rouge fuel terminal fence. Will you pick it up from inside the terminal? Those terminals are 6.1 and 8 miles north-west of Inniswold, according to the Energy Information Administration, and we collect at the terminal once the operator clears us at the gate. Send the gate contact with your photos.
- My tri-axle dump hauls sand for Wyandotte Dredging. Is a sand and gravel dump something you buy?Wyandotte Dredging is the sand and gravel site the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists 11 miles north-west of town, and dump trucks working from it are on our list. Tell us the axle setup and the body style.
- My truck is parked outside town. Can you collect it where it is?Inniswold sits within 8.8 miles of both Baton Rouge rail yards on the North American Rail Network, and we pick up at a yard, a dock or a driveway, wherever the truck is parked. Pass along the street address plus a phone number for whoever holds the key or gate code.
