The Meraux terminal and the Chalmette refinery
Barely 1.5 miles west of town, sits a fuel rack the Energy Information Administration catalogues as the MERAUX petroleum product terminal. If your tractor loaded fuel there, the title, registration and any tank or hazmat inspection sheets are what we ask to see first, so pull them together before you call.
PBF Chalmette Refinery shows up 3.3 miles west in the Bureau of Transportation Statistics list of liquid bulk terminals. Wherever a truck that hauled for the refinery is parked now, whether a lot near the plant or your own driveway, our driver collects it there once you tell us who holds the keys.
Tank docks south-west of Meraux
Two more sites lie 4.3 miles to the south-west: Stolt-Nielsen, a liquid bulk terminal per the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, and a petroleum product terminal called NEW ORLEANS that the Energy Information Administration records. Tankers that shuttle between those docks and the Meraux rack are trucks we buy, tractor and trailer together or apart.
When you message us about one of these rigs, name the terminals it ran to and attach clear photos of the cab, the tank shell, the fifth wheel and the VIN plate. Service records from the shop that kept it on the road round out the picture for us.
Rail yards and military posts west of town
According to the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, the CHALMETTE rail yard sits 4.9 miles west and the GULF GATEWAY TERMINAL yard 7 miles north-west. Day cabs that drayed freight to either yard are welcome, and the yard address is all we need to find one parked there.
NG Jackson Bks, 5.7 miles west, and West Bank, 7 miles west, both appear as military installations in Bureau of Transportation Statistics listings. If your truck is stored near a gated site, give us a contact who can let our driver in, plus a copy of the registration so the pickup paperwork matches.
Builders and plant crews on the east bank
Building trades hold 166 positions, 23 percent of the 721 jobs that the Census Bureau’s LEHD counts tied to Meraux in 2023. Dump trucks, flatbeds and crew-cab work trucks that served those jobs can be sold from wherever they finish the day, whether that is a job site or a contractor’s lot.
Manufacturing follows with 146 jobs, 20.2 percent of the local total in the same LEHD release. Box trucks and straight trucks running parts or product for plants around the parish fit what we purchase; have the title in the seller’s name and note the body type and length when you write.
Ten construction outfits operate in this corner of the parish, going by the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns. If your company owns several units, send one list with each VIN and where each one sits, and we will plan a single trip to collect them.
Out past the levee
Cattle, honey and rabbit farms downriver
St. Bernard Parish counts 50 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with cattle, honey and rabbits leading its list. A livestock hauler, a stake-bed or a farm truck kept on one of those properties can stay right where it is parked until our driver arrives.
For a truck registered to a farm rather than a person, the title should show who can sign for it. If that name has changed since the truck was bought, mention it early so we can sort out the right signatures before collection day.
The questions we get asked in Meraux
- My tanker is parked by the Meraux fuel rack; does it have to come to you?The MERAUX terminal the Energy Information Administration lists is only 1.5 miles west of town, and we pick up from that area just as it is. Send the address where the tanker sits and who can open the gate.
- Do you take trucks that worked construction in Meraux?Construction holds 166 of Meraux’s 721 jobs in the Census Bureau’s LEHD counts for 2023, and the dump trucks, flatbeds and work trucks behind them are trucks we buy. Keep the title and the Louisiana registration close at hand for that first call.
- My day cab is sitting at the Chalmette rail yard; will your driver pick it up from the yard itself? The CHALMETTE rail yard is 4.9 miles west on the North American Rail Network, and a truck parked there can be collected on site. Tell us the yard and a contact who can give our driver access.
