Port to the west
Just 2.9 miles west of Montz, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the Port of South Louisiana, and it lists Marathon Dock, a liquid bulk terminal, farther upriver at 8.2 miles in that same direction. A tractor that shuttles between those river docks may be parked inside a terminal fence on collection day, so give us the gate name and a person who can let our driver in.
For a truck that has spent its years on dock work near Montz, the most useful thing you can send is a clear set of photos: the cab, the frame rails, the fifth wheel and the tires. Add the VIN from the door jamb, and we can begin without a trip to the port.
Good Hope and the Garyville asphalt terminal
Good Hope, a liquid bulk terminal the Bureau of Transportation Statistics records 3.1 miles south of town, is the closest dock of its kind to Montz. Tankers and the tractors that pull them out of Good Hope belong on our list, and if the tank trailer goes with the tractor, say so at the start so both units are covered in one visit.
Upriver at Garyville, the Energy Information Administration lists an asphalt terminal 9.7 miles west of Montz. Asphalt tankers and the tractors hauling them keep logs of loads and service, and handing those over with the title lets us see the truck’s working record alongside your photos.
Two sand pits south-east of town
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Beverly Sand Pit #2 at 4.2 miles south-east of Montz and the Hahnville Sand Pit just past it at 4.4 miles. Dump trucks and tri-axles that load at those pits fit what we buy, whether the body is steel or aluminium.
A dump truck kept at a pit near Hahnville can stay there for collection. Send the pit’s name, the spot where the truck is parked and photos of the bed and hoist, and we plan the pickup around the site’s working hours.
Rail yards at Destrehan and the port
Two yards from the North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, sit roughly the same distance from Montz in opposite directions: the Port of South Louisiana yard 7.4 miles west and Destrehan 7.5 miles south-east. Day cabs that move loads between those rail yards and the river docks are trucks we buy.
If your day cab was based at the Destrehan yard or the port yard, it does not need to be driven home to Montz first. Tell us which yard holds it, and keep the registration in the cab or ready to hand over when our driver arrives.
For 2023 the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts (LODES) show 226 jobs in Montz, and manufacturing accounts for 103 of them, a 45.6 percent share. Box trucks, flatbeds and service trucks attached to a plant can be sold to us straight from the plant lot.
Across St. Charles Parish, USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 44 farms. A farm truck or grain hauler kept on one of those properties is welcome too; give us directions to the barn or field gate, since rural addresses near the river can be hard to find.
When the title has gone missing, the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles handles a replacement, and its listing of OMV offices includes ABC Title of Laplace at 1101 W Airline Hwy Ste B, Laplace, 70068, about 3.5 miles from Montz. Start the duplicate there before we schedule collection, and bring the registration and your ID with you.
With a lienholder still on the record, ask the lender for a lien release before you visit the Laplace office. Having the release, the replacement title and the registration together lets the sale close without a second trip to Laplace.
