Tankers on the St. Gabriel side of the parish
St. Gabriel, a liquid bulk terminal 9.6 miles south-west of Old Jefferson, appears in the Bureau of Transportation Statistics port listings, as does LBC Tank Terminals at 10.5 miles in the same direction. A tractor that has pulled tank trailers between those two gates can stay parked wherever it last dropped; give us the lot address and the name of whoever controls access there.
On the Energy Information Administration’s list of petroleum product terminals, LBC Baton Rouge stands 10.7 miles south-west and a Baton Rouge terminal 10.2 miles north-west. If your truck carried product out of either one, gather the tank inspection certificates and hazmat placard records that went with it, and photograph the trailer connections alongside the cab and the VIN plate.
Rail and the river side
The KCS yard north-west of town
The North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration together with the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, places the Baton Rouge (KCS) rail yard 11.7 miles north-west of Old Jefferson. Day cabs that shuttle between a rail yard and nearby terminals often sit at a yard lot between runs, so tell us whether yours is inside a fenced area and who holds the key.
That yard and the Baton Rouge petroleum terminal share the north-west side of the map at 11.7 and 10.2 miles out, according to the rail network survey and the Energy Information Administration respectively. When a truck has split its time between the two, a short note of which sites it served, plus its registration and service records, lets us ask the right questions from the start.
Sand and gravel at the Cross pit
Two sand and gravel operations, Cross and Plant 3, each sit 12.4 miles north of Old Jefferson in the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s mine records. Dump trucks and end-dump tractors hauling out of pits like these may still be parked at the operation itself, and we can collect from the pit as long as someone there can walk us to the unit.
For a truck that has worked at a mine site, the Mine Safety and Health Administration listing gives you the operation’s name to put on the paperwork. Have the title, current registration and any site inspection forms together, and send photos showing the bed, the hoist and the frame rails along with the cab.
Construction carries close to a third of the work here
Construction filled 374 of the 1,267 jobs counted inside Old Jefferson for 2023, a 29.5 percent slice in the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts. Owners of flatbeds, dump trucks and equipment haulers tied to those crews can arrange collection at a job yard or a home driveway; just tell us which, and whether a trailer has to be unhooked first.
Transportation and warehousing accounted for 78 of those 1,267 positions, or 6.2 percent, in the same LEHD figures for 2023. Owner-operators based in Old Jefferson should keep the logbook, maintenance invoices and the title in one folder and send copies with the first message.
Pastures and soybean fields in the parish
Cattle, soybeans and equine lead the farm list for the parish, which USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture credits with 435 farms. A livestock hauler, a grain truck or a tow rig for a horse trailer kept on one of those places can be collected at the barn; drop a map pin for the field gate.
Check whose name is on the Louisiana title before you reach out: yours, a partner’s or the farm’s. When the titled owner and the seller differ, mention it at the start and we will walk through the paperwork that connects them.
Pickup logistics
Gates, yards and the AFRC west of town
West of Old Jefferson by 8.2 miles, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists the NG Baton Rouge AFRC military installation. If your truck is parked near a gated site like that one, or any other controlled area, name the person who can sign us in when you first get in touch.
Every terminal, yard and pit named above can be a pickup point, and the truck does not need to move from where it last worked. Give us the address, a phone number for someone on site, and photos of all four sides, the dash and the VIN.

- Our tanker sits at a St. Gabriel terminal lot. Must we haul it back to Old Jefferson before you collect?St. Gabriel lies 9.6 miles south-west of Old Jefferson on the Bureau of Transportation Statistics listing, and we collect the tanker from the terminal lot itself. Give us the terminal operator’s contact so our arrival at the St. Gabriel gate is expected.
- My dump truck hauls sand from the Cross operation north of Old Jefferson. Will you load it there?Cross is one of two sand and gravel operations 12.4 miles north of Old Jefferson in Mine Safety and Health Administration records, and the truck can be collected there. Have someone on site who can point it out and hand over the keys.
- The truck belongs to a cattle farm in East Baton Rouge Parish. Which papers should the farm gather?Cattle rank first among the 435 parish farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, and a truck kept on one of them can be collected at the farm. Bring the title, the registration and, if the title is in the farm’s name, proof that you can sign for it.
