The Gramercy plant and the Mt. Airy fuel tanks
Just over four miles east of Paulina, the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists the Gramercy Operation, a mineral processing plant. A dump truck, tractor or service body that runs in and out of that gate is a truck we buy, and it can stay parked near the plant while we arrange collection. Send us the VIN, a photo of the plant-side door decals if it carries any, and the name of whoever can let us onto the lot.
Two petroleum product terminals named MT AIRY appear in the Energy Information Administration’s terminal list, one at 4.7 miles and the other at 4.9 miles east of town. Tractors that pull fuel tankers from racks like these are part of what we take on. Tell us which rack the truck loaded at and whether the tank trailer goes with it or stays behind, so we know exactly what we are collecting.
River docks
MPLX, a liquid bulk terminal, sits 5.4 miles east of Paulina on the Bureau of Transportation Statistics port facility list, and Marathon Dock, another liquid bulk site, is 7.8 miles out in that same direction. If your tractor has worked dock-to-plant shuttles there, keep its registration and any terminal access cards or safety checklists in the cab for us to see.
A truck that is still badged for one of those docks can be sold from the dock lot itself. Give us the street location, a gate contact and the hours the lot is open. We collect it there, not in Paulina.
Rail yard, then port
Port of South Louisiana yards a short haul away
Nine miles east, the North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration with the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, shows the PT OF SOUTH LOUISIANA rail yard. Day cabs that move freight between that yard and the river are welcome here, whether they are owned outright or still carry a lien that has to be cleared at sale.
According to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, the South Louisiana, LA, Port of lies 12.9 miles east of town. For a truck that ends its shifts near the port, photograph the cab, frame, fifth wheel and each axle’s tires, and include the VIN plate, so the pictures and your description of the truck line up before we arrive.
Fill pit to the west
Heading the other way, South Louisiana Fill Materials, LLC is a sand and gravel operation 15.4 miles west of Paulina in Mine Safety and Health Administration records. Dump trucks and end-dump tractors hauling fill from a pit like that are trucks we purchase, and we collect from the pit, a yard or a driveway, wherever the truck is parked.
Paulina’s parish counts three construction establishments, the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns shows. If your truck was hauling for a contractor, tell us whose name is on the title and registration; a parish business, a partnership or an individual can each sell, as long as the person signing has the authority to.
Beans and herds
Around Paulina and the rest of St. James Parish, USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture records 61 farms, with soybeans and cattle as the leading products. Grain trucks, livestock haulers and farm tractors with a plated cab all fit what we buy, and they can be collected from a barn, a field edge or a farm road.
Farm trucks often sit on farm plates or carry a title held under a family name. Have that title on hand, check whose name it shows, and if the owner has passed away or the farm changed hands, tell us early so the right person signs.
Gramercy OMV
Titles in this state come from the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles, and its OMV Gramercy Office, at 827 N Pine Street, Suite B, Gramercy, 70052, is 2.1 miles from Paulina by that agency’s own office listing. If the certificate is lost or missing a signature, that office is where a duplicate is requested.
Bring a photo ID and the VIN when you go, and if a bank or lender once held a lien on the truck, bring the release letter too. With a duplicate in hand, the sale is signed on the day we collect.
