Rigs, pipe, machinery
Rig trucks and lowboys around Vivian
Of the 17 active carriers FMCSA’s carrier census places in Vivian, five list oilfield equipment as a cargo and five list machinery and large objects. If your tractor has moved rigs, pipe or equipment on a lowboy, tell us the trailer it pulled and whether that trailer is part of the sale, so we know what we are coming to collect.
Eight of those Vivian carriers record general freight and four record dry bulk commodities, according to the same federal census. A single owner may cover two or three of those lines with one truck, so describe the work it did in your own words and send the VIN with the photos.
Lone Star Sand, Cedar Bluff
Pits south-east of town and the Cedar Bluff mine
Lone Star Sand, a sand and gravel operation the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists about 11.5 miles south-east of Vivian, and Hat Creek, another sand and gravel site 23.4 miles out in that same direction, are where dump trucks and end dumps from this end of the parish load. If your truck is parked at one of those pits, give us the gate contact and we arrange the collection there.
Cedar Bluff, an industrial-mineral mine the Mine Safety and Health Administration places roughly 13.1 miles east of town, is another place a tractor or dump truck may sit between jobs. Send photos of the bed or trailer, the frame and the cab, so we know exactly which truck to look for at the mine.
Small owner-operators and private fleets
The biggest Vivian fleet on FMCSA’s census runs eight power units with five drivers; the next carry three units and two. Most sellers here own one or two trucks, so we deal with the person who signs the title rather than a fleet office, and the paperwork stays simple.
Eight of the town’s carriers run as private fleets, hauling their own goods, per the federal motor carrier census. If the truck belonged to a farm, a contractor or a family business rather than a for-hire carrier, have the name on the title match the business or person selling it, or bring the paper that shows the change.
Eleven interstate carriers
Interstate routes and local runs
Eleven Vivian carriers hold interstate authority and six work only inside Louisiana, FMCSA reports, and fifteen send drivers beyond a hundred-mile radius against seven that stay inside it. A truck on those longer runs may be out of state when you call, so tell us where it will be parked on the day you want it collected.
Six carriers here reported annual mileage to the federal census, with a median of 25,500 miles per truck. Have the current odometer reading ready alongside the registration; that figure and the VIN are the first two things we ask for.
Vivian’s OMV counter, a block from the centre
The Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles handles titles and registration through its OMV offices, and the OMV Vivian Office at 102 E Georgia, A, Vivian, 71082 sits about 0.1 miles from the town centre. If the title for your truck has gone missing, a duplicate starts at that counter.
Bring your registration and photo identification when you visit the OMV, and any lien release if the truck was financed. Once the title is in your name and clear, send us a photo of the front and back so the transfer is ready on collection day.
Cotton fields, Deramus yard
Cotton, cattle and the Deramus yard
Cotton, corn and cattle lead the 589 farms that USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture records across Caddo Parish, the parish Vivian belongs to. Grain trucks, cattle haulers and flatbeds from those farms are trucks we buy, and we collect them from the barn or field where they are kept.
The North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, shows the Deramus rail yard about 24.8 miles south-east of Vivian. Day cabs that shuttle loads to and from that yard can be picked up at the yard lot, provided someone there can let us in.
The questions we get asked in Vivian
- The Lone Star Sand pit is where my dump truck sits now. Does it have to be driven to town before you collect?Lone Star Sand is about 11.5 miles south-east of town on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list, and we collect from the pit itself. Let us know who can open the pit gate for our driver and on which days.
- My truck’s Louisiana title is lost. Is there an OMV counter right here in town? The OMV Vivian Office at 102 E Georgia, A, Vivian, 71082 is part of the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles and sits about 0.1 miles from the town centre. Ask there for a duplicate title before you arrange the sale.
- I haul oilfield equipment out of state. Can you collect the truck where it is?Five Vivian carriers on FMCSA’s carrier census list oilfield equipment, and eleven hold interstate authority, so trucks here are often away from town. Give us the address where it is parked and we plan the collection there.
