Aggregate loop
Dump trucks on the Walker-to-Henderson Lease run
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists two sand and gravel operations close to Walker: Henderson Lease, 8.2 miles north-west, and Cross, 8.5 miles in the same direction. A dump truck or tractor that has spent its days on that short loop may well be parked near the pits or at a yard in between, and we can collect it from either spot if you give us the address and a gate contact.
Aggregate work around Walker means many sellers here own a single dump truck or a tractor with an end-dump trailer. Send the VIN, a photo of the door plate and pictures of the bed or trailer along with the cab, and tell us whether the trailer goes with the truck or stays behind.
Baton Rouge terminals, rail yards and the liquid bulk dock
Two petroleum product terminals named Baton Rouge appear in the Energy Information Administration’s listings, 17.4 and 18.1 miles west of Walker. If your tractor pulled fuel loads out of those racks, keep any terminal access records or tank trailer paperwork with the title so we can see what the unit was set up to do.
Rail traffic is close too: the North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, places the Baton Rouge (KCS) yard 18.5 miles west and a second Baton Rouge yard at 19.2 miles. A day cab that shuttled between those yards and the Baton Rouge liquid bulk terminal, which the Bureau of Transportation Statistics puts 20.1 miles west, can be picked up on that side of the parish line just as easily as in town.
Freight, steel coil and timber haulers based in Walker
FMCSA’s carrier census shows 40 active carriers based in Walker, with 28 hauling general freight, 15 carrying machinery and large objects, 11 moving metal sheets, coils and rolls, and 8 handling logs, poles, beams and lumber. Flatbeds, step decks and lowboy tractors sit alongside the van and dump units, so tell us the trailer type when you first get in touch.
Of those 40 carriers, 22 run interstate and 18 stay intrastate, and 13 are private fleets hauling their own goods, according to the same federal census. A private-fleet truck often carries the company name on the door and the title in a business name, so have whoever signs for the business ready to sign the title over.
Four new carriers registered in Walker in 2025 and one in 2024, per FMCSA’s registrations. If yours is one of those newer outfits and the truck is still financed, have the lender’s name and the payoff contact on hand so the lien release can be lined up with the sale.
Model year and yearly miles across the Walker fleet
Roadside inspections between September 2024 and August 2026 covered 90 trucks from Walker carriers, and in FMCSA roadside inspection records their median model year is 2020, with 23.3 percent ten or more years old. Whatever the year of yours, the registration card and the most recent annual inspection sticker or report help us confirm the unit.
Fifteen Walker outfits report annual mileage to FMCSA, and the middle figure among them comes to 25,000 miles for each truck. Photograph the odometer and the engine hour reading together, and write both down when you send the VIN.
The biggest fleets based here are modest: per the FMCSA census, the top three run 26, 11 and 9 power units. Selling several trucks from a fleet that size is one conversation, not several; send a list of VINs and where each truck is parked.
Job sites, docks and cattle farms near Walker
Construction accounts for 329 of Walker’s 3,097 jobs, or 10.6 percent, in the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023, and County Business Patterns lists 64 construction establishments. Contractors’ dump trucks, water trucks and equipment haulers are part of what we buy, and a contractor’s truck can be collected from a job site as long as someone can meet us there.
The same 2023 LEHD figures put 299 jobs, 9.7 percent, in transportation and warehousing, with 73 in manufacturing. A box truck or tractor tied to a warehouse yard may be easiest to collect at the dock; tell us the hours the gate is open.
Livingston Parish holds 402 farms, with cattle first, then horses and honey, according to USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture. Livestock haulers and farm trucks are welcome, and a truck kept out on a farm road can be picked up there if you send a pin of where it sits.
Bridges on the roads out of Walker
Of 36 bridges recorded around Walker in the National Bridge Inventory from the Federal Highway Administration, 10 carry posted load limits and none has clearance under 14 feet. That tells us which approaches suit our pickup rig, so mention the nearest crossing if the truck sits off a side road.
If the truck is parked on a private lot, give us the owner’s name and a phone number for whoever has the keys. With the title, registration and keys in one place, the collection in Walker goes smoothly.
The questions we get asked in Walker
- My dump truck is parked out by the gravel pits north-west of Walker. Can it stay out there by the pit road?Henderson Lease and Cross, the sand and gravel operations the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists 8.2 and 8.5 miles north-west of Walker, are close enough that we collect the truck where it stands. A pin on the map and a gate code or phone number for the pit is all the location detail we need.
- I ran a tractor out of the Baton Rouge terminals. Would you take a fuel-rack tractor like that?Tractors that served the two Baton Rouge petroleum product terminals the Energy Information Administration lists, 17.4 and 18.1 miles west, are part of what we buy. Send the VIN, photos of the cab and fifth wheel, and the title.
- My Walker trucking company holds the title, so who signs?Thirteen of Walker’s 40 carriers in FMCSA’s census are private fleets, and business titles are common here. Have the person authorised to sign for the company sign the title, and bring the registration card.
- Will you collect a Livingston Parish log truck with its loader?Logs, poles, beams and lumber are the cargo of eight Walker carriers on FMCSA’s census, and a timber tractor from that group is a truck we collect. Tell us whether the trailer and loader stay with the tractor.
