IVORY yard, Lindenwood ramp and the Lemay racks
The North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, places the IVORY yard 3.5 miles east of Affton and the LINDENWOOD yard 4.6 miles to the north-east. A day cab that shuttles between those two yards and the Lindenwood intermodal ramp may stay on the south side of the city, so give us the street where it is parked and we will plan the collection around that spot.
On Energy Information Administration listings, the ST LOUIS MO petroleum product terminal is 3.9 miles east of town and the LEMAY terminal 4.3 miles to the south-east. Tank tractors that load at either rack usually carry hazmat placarding and terminal access paperwork; keep the registration and any inspection sheets with the cab so the history of the unit travels with it.
West of town, 6.7 miles out, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics records Burlington Junction as a liquid bulk terminal. If your tractor pulled tank trailers there, tell us whether the trailer goes with it or stays behind, and send photos of the fifth wheel alongside the cab.
Jefferson Barracks quarry and the Hageman Plant
Mine Safety and Health Administration records list the JEFFERSON BARRACKS (CS-71) crushed-stone quarry 5.7 miles south-east of Affton and the Hageman Plant, a sand and gravel operation, 6.8 miles to the south-west. Dump trucks and end-dump tractors working those two sites are often left at a contractor yard between jobs rather than at a home address.
If your dump truck is sitting at a yard near the quarry, give us the gate hours and the name of whoever can let a driver in. Photos of the bed, the hoist and the cab, plus the VIN, are what we ask for first.
Interstate, intrastate and private haulers on Affton’s books
Of the 88 Affton carriers active in FMCSA’s carrier census, 62 cross state lines, 26 stay inside Missouri and 27 haul their own goods as private fleets. Whether your authority covers one state or many, the title and registration are the two documents a sale here starts from.
General freight is listed by 64 of those carriers in the federal census, ahead of paper products at 25, beverages at 21 and dry bulk commodities at 20. Box trucks and dry vans from beverage and paper routes, and pneumatic or hopper rigs from the dry bulk side, are all units we collect from this part of St. Louis County.
New registrations keep arriving: the FMCSA census records 9 carriers added in 2025 and 6 in 2024. A newer operator who bought a tractor and is now stepping back can sell it the same way a long-standing fleet would, starting with a VIN and a few photos.
Small fleets, short radius, steady miles
Three Affton fleets in the FMCSA carrier census run 87, 86 and 82 power units, with 71, 86 and 44 drivers respectively. A fleet thinning out several tractors at once can list them together, and we will collect each one from wherever it is parked.
Driver records filed with FMCSA count 174 drivers working within 100 miles and 389 driving beyond that radius. Across 40 carriers that report mileage, the federal census puts the median at 44,699 miles a truck each year; have the odometer reading ready with the VIN when you contact us.
In FMCSA roadside inspection records from August 2024 to August 2026, 420 trucks tied to Affton were inspected, with a median model year of 2020 and 21.2 percent ten or more model years old. Whatever year yours is, the year, make and model belong in your first message.
Contractors and supply houses off Gravois
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023 put 4,081 jobs inside Affton, and construction holds 876 of them, a 21.5 percent share. The same LEHD figures give wholesale trade 427 jobs, manufacturing 368 and transportation and warehousing 64. Flatbeds, dump trucks and straight trucks from contracting and supply work are all welcome.
For Affton, the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns tally lists 116 construction establishments. A contractor selling a work truck should have the title in the business name ready, along with a note on who at the company can sign for it.
The Affton license office on Gravois Road
The Missouri Department of Revenue runs its AFFTON license office at 9513 Gravois Rd, 0.3 miles from the middle of town. If the title for your truck has gone missing, that office is where a duplicate is requested before the sale goes ahead.
If a lender is still listed on the title, bring the lien release to that Gravois Road counter as well. With a clear Missouri title in hand, the rest of the sale comes down to the VIN, photos and where the truck sits.
Farm trucks count as well: USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture records 222 farms across the county Affton belongs to, growing mostly soybeans, corn and wheat. Grain trucks registered with farm plates go through the same Department of Revenue title process as any other unit.
