Quarry trucks north and west of Carthage
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Carthage Crushed Limestone 3.1 miles north of town and Radix Joplin 4.5 miles to the west, both crushed-stone quarries. If your dump truck or end-dump tractor has hauled from either pit, tell us which one and where the truck is parked now, whether that is at the quarry, a yard on the edge of town or your own driveway.
Jasper County’s mining and quarrying sector held 56 jobs in 2023 on the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts, beside 173 in construction. A tandem that hauls aggregate to job sites is the kind of truck we collect, so have the title and the current Missouri registration together before you call, and add any scale tickets or service logs you kept.
Grain, hay and farm supply hauling
Cattle lead the 1,174 Jasper County farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, ahead of soybeans and wheat. Grain trucks, hopper tractors and flatbeds that carry round bales tend to sit at a farm gate or a machine shed between seasons, so send us the farm address and a note on whether the lane takes a rollback in wet weather.
Among carriers based in Carthage, FMCSA’s carrier census shows 27 hauling grain, feed or hay, 24 hauling dry bulk commodities and 23 carrying farm supplies. A bulk feed body, a livestock trailer tractor or a straight truck with a grain bed all fit here; photos of the bed, the hoist and the cab, plus the VIN plate, let us start without a visit.
Carthage’s own carrier roster
FMCSA lists 117 active carriers in Carthage, with 56 of them hauling general freight. The same FMCSA records split them into 65 interstate operators, 52 that stay within Missouri and 63 private fleets carrying their own goods; a box truck from a plant floor and a sleeper on a long lane are both trucks we take.
New registrations add to that roster: the federal carrier census records 11 new carriers in 2025 and 7 in 2024. If you started an outfit recently and are now selling a tractor, the paperwork is the same as for anyone else, a clear title in the name on the registration and the odometer reading at hand.
On FMCSA’s census, the three biggest fleets based here run 130, 123 and 85 power units, with 95, 115 and 66 drivers. If you manage a fleet and are retiring several units, list each VIN with where it is parked, and we will plan collection unit by unit.
Miles
Short runs and long lanes
Driver records in the FMCSA carrier census put 253 Carthage drivers working within 100 miles and 443 going beyond that. A truck that spends most nights away may be parked at a terminal in another state when you decide to sell; give us that address, and the truck does not need to come home first.
Across the 51 local carriers reporting mileage, the median sits at 22,592 miles per truck per year, according to FMCSA’s census. Write down the odometer reading as it stands today and include it with your photos, alongside the year, make and model.
Plants, warehouses and the rail yards
Manufacturing accounts for 2,457 of the 9,033 jobs counted in Carthage for 2023 by the Census Bureau’s LEHD program, and transportation and warehousing for another 1,344. Box trucks, day cabs and yard tractors that shuttle between plants and docks are likely to be parked at a loading bay, so tell us who controls access to the lot.
The North American Rail Network shows the Carthage yard 0.9 miles north of downtown and the East Carthage yard 2.8 miles to the north-east. A truck that has worked a transload dock near either yard can be collected right there, with a contact on site who can open the gate on the day.
Eleven miles up the road, 11.4 to be exact on Energy Information Administration records, sits the Carthage petroleum product terminal. A fuel tanker tractor based near it should come with its title and whatever tank inspection reports you hold for the trailer it pulled.
Title office and the roads in
A missing title gets replaced at the Missouri Department of Revenue license office at 1429 Hazel Ave, about a mile from the centre of Carthage. Ask there for a duplicate before we arrange collection, and bring your identification and the VIN so the clerk can find the record.
Seven of the 27 Carthage bridges in the National Bridge Inventory carry load postings, while none falls below 14 feet of clearance. When you describe where the truck sits, mention the route our rollback will use to reach it, so a posted crossing does not block the way in.
