Crushed stone to the south-west, sand to the north
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Defiance Quarry, a crushed-stone operation 7 miles south-west of town, and New Melle Mine, another crushed-stone site 10.1 miles to the west. A dump truck or tri-axle that cycles between those pits and St. Charles County job sites is the kind of truck we buy here, and it can stay parked at the yard or the house where it sits between loads.
Farther out, BMC Sand at Old Monroe, 13.2 miles north, is an industrial-mineral mine on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list, and so are two sand and gravel operations: Dredge Chesterfield, 13.5 miles east, and Kimaterials Incorporated, 14.6 miles north. If your truck hauled sand off any of them, tell us which one and send a photo of the body and the tailgate along with the cab.
Quarry trucks often carry scale tickets or site passes in the glovebox. Leave them with the truck; they show where it has worked, and they save you answering those questions twice.
The Wentzville yard and the Saint Charles terminal
Wentzville General Motors, a rail yard 7.9 miles north-west of Dardenne Prairie, appears in the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Day cabs that shuttle parts trailers to and from a plant yard like that one are on our list; give us the VIN, the odometer reading and the trailer type it usually pulled.
Toward the north-east, 7.9 miles out, the Energy Information Administration records a petroleum product terminal at Saint Charles. A tanker tractor or straight-truck fuel unit loading there should come with its tank inspection paperwork and hazmat placard history, so keep those papers in one folder ready for the pickup.
River docks due east of town
Due east of Dardenne Prairie by 16.2 miles, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places a port in St. Louis County. A truck that hauls river freight from the docks may be parked back near home rather than at the waterfront, and we collect from wherever it sits.
If the tractor pulled flatbeds or chassis off the riverfront, send photos of the deck, the fifth wheel and the tires, and write down where it is kept so the driver can plan the route out to it.
Contractor and distributor trucks in town
In 2023 the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts put 2,383 jobs in Dardenne Prairie, with 123 of them in construction, a 5.2 percent share. Box trucks, flatbeds and pickups with service bodies are what contractors around the subdivisions here run, and each needs a title in the seller’s name before it changes hands.
Wholesale trade held 113 of those positions, or 4.7 percent, by the same LEHD figures. A straight truck with a liftgate that ran deliveries for a distributor fits what we buy; note the box length and whether the liftgate is hydraulic when you write to us.
Grain and hog hauling on county farms
USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counted 589 farms in St. Charles County, with soybeans, corn and hogs leading the list. Grain trucks with hoists and livestock haulers come off those operations, and a farm-plated truck is fine to sell as long as the title matches the name on the plates.
Out on a farm the truck may sit in a machine shed or a field lane. Give us the gate code or a phone number for whoever is on site, and we will set the pickup around the farm’s day.
Duplicate titles off Highway K
Missouri Department of Revenue runs a license office at 2421 Hwy K in O’Fallon, just 2.4 miles from Dardenne Prairie. A missing title gets replaced there, and filing for a duplicate before we arrive keeps the sale simple.
Bring the title, the current registration and a photo ID to the sale. If a lender is still shown on the title, the lien release from that lender goes with it, and the O’Fallon office can record it if the release has not been filed yet.
