Wholesale town
Hazelwood’s wholesale and factory jobs
Wholesale trade held 5,459 of Hazelwood’s 18,176 jobs in 2023 by the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts, and manufacturing another 3,433. A tractor or box truck that has shuttled goods between those distribution floors is usually parked at a dock or a yard in town when the owner calls, so give us the street address and the name of whoever controls the gate.
The same LEHD figures count 1,260 Hazelwood jobs in transportation and warehousing and 591 in construction. If your truck served one of those employers under a lease or a company name, check whose name is printed on the title before you contact us; that person or business signs it over.
County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau lists 29 warehousing establishments and 29 construction establishments here. Whichever side your truck came from, have the registration card and a few clear photos of the cab, the frame and the tires ready for the first conversation.
Beverage, paper and moving vans along Hazelwood’s docks
FMCSA’s carrier census shows 150 active carriers based in Hazelwood: 88 hauling interstate, 62 staying inside Missouri, and 52 running private fleets that move their own goods. An owner-operator with interstate authority should keep the USDOT number handy, since it lets us match the truck to the carrier record it ran under.
General freight is the cargo listed by 108 of those Hazelwood carriers in FMCSA’s census, with beverages and paper products at 27 each and household goods at 21. A beverage route truck, a paper hauler or a moving van all come with different bodies and lift gates, so tell us what is mounted behind the cab and include a photo of it.
New registrations keep arriving, too: according to FMCSA, 12 carriers here started up in 2025 and 10 in 2024. If you bought a truck to start one of those outfits and are now stepping back, the title and your bill of sale from the original purchase are the two papers to find first.
Model years, mileage and driver reach
Roadside inspection records kept by FMCSA cover 983 trucks inspected from Hazelwood carriers between August 2024 and August 2026; their median model year was 2022, and 8 percent were ten or more years old. Note the model year and the VIN from the door jamb plate when you reach out.
Across the 58 local carriers that reported annual mileage to FMCSA’s carrier census, the median truck logged 19,403 miles. Write down the odometer reading on the day you contact us, along with the engine hours if the dash shows them.
Hazelwood carriers in FMCSA’s census list 598 drivers working within 100 miles and 1,405 driving farther out. A long-haul sleeper may be sitting at a terminal in another state when you decide to sell, and that is fine; we arrange collection where it is parked.
Three fleets top the local roster in the FMCSA census, at 439, 426 and 142 power units. If you manage a group of units rather than one, send a list with each VIN and its parking spot.
Rail yards, quarries and the river port
The North American Rail Network from the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the BERKELEY rail yard 3.6 miles south-east of Hazelwood and the LACKLAND yard 7.2 miles south. Drayage tractors that worked those yards, or the St. Louis intermodal ramp the Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists 12.3 miles south-east, can be picked up at the lot where they last dropped a box.
Mine Safety and Health Administration records show Dredge Chesterfield, a sand and gravel operation, 4.1 miles west, Champ Quarry 5.4 miles south-west, and Fort Bellefontaine (CS31) 9 miles east. A dump truck or mixer that hauled from those pits may be parked on the quarry property, so ask the site office about access before you give us the address.
Toward the Missouri River, the Energy Information Administration lists the SAINT CHARLES petroleum product terminal 10.3 miles west, and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics counts the St. Louis County port 10.9 miles south. For a tanker or a port chassis puller, have the tank inspection paperwork or the port access details ready to share.
Titles, bridges and the Florissant office
The Missouri Department of Revenue runs a license office at 650 N HWY 67 in Florissant, 3.2 miles from Hazelwood. Apply for a duplicate there if your title has gone missing, and do it before collection day.
If a lender is still shown on the Missouri title, bring the lien release letter as well. The Department of Revenue office on Highway 67 can record a release on a replacement title at the same visit.
Of Hazelwood’s 16 spans in the Federal Highway Administration’s National Bridge Inventory, two carry posted weight limits and not one has clearance below 14 feet. Tell us if your truck is parked on a street that crosses one of the posted spans, so we bring a rig suited to that route.
Grain trucks in St. Louis County
Soybean, corn and wheat ground fills out the 222 county farms recorded around Hazelwood by USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture. A grain truck or farm tractor kept on one of those properties can be collected from the farm itself, so share the field entrance or barn location.
Farm trucks are sometimes titled to the farm business rather than to a person. Check the name on the Missouri title, and if it belongs to an entity, have whoever is authorised to sign for it available when we set the pickup.
