A quarry that feeds its own paving contracts
Hollister South Quarry records 10 employees. Around Branson and the Table Rock shore three operations sit within seven miles of one another under two operators, two of them named for the lake.
Two of those three are held by an asphalt contractor, and that changes what the trucks are for. The quarry supplies the company’s own paving work, so the fleet turns over with the contract book rather than on a replacement cycle. A truck leaves when the work it was bought for finishes, which is not the same as leaving when it wears out.
The market underneath it is a tourism one rather than an industrial or agricultural one — hospitality building, road widening and shoreline work, following visitor growth and public projects rather than a construction season. That makes the year flatter than a farm market’s and lumpier than a metropolitan one’s.

The plateau around it is thin-networked country in any case. Ten-mile counts elsewhere on it run to 20 structures at Seligman and 43 at Table Rock, against 607 at Kansas City, and the White River reservoirs — Table Rock, Bull Shoals and Taneycomo — cut what remains into lobes. Near and reachable are further apart here than a map suggests.
