Stone close to home
Quarry trucks around Lotawana and Rockridge
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Lotawana Quarry, a crushed-stone operation, 1.1 miles south-west of Lee’s Summit. If your dump truck or tri-axle hauls rock out of that pit, it may well be parked within sight of the scale house when we arrive, so give us the gate details and the name of whoever can let us in.
Rockridge Quarry, another crushed-stone site on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list, lies 8.8 miles west. Owners who split loads between the two pits should tell us which yard the truck is kept in; a single address is all we need to plan the collection.
Across Lee’s Summit, County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau counts 306 construction establishments. Many of those firms keep a dump body or a stake-bed in the yard, and for a sale like that we ask for the title, current registration and a few clear photos of the body, the cab and the plate.
West toward the city
Rail ramps, fuel terminals and Lake City
At 10.4 miles west, by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics’ measure, Kansas City has a rail intermodal ramp. Day cabs that shuttle containers between that ramp and warehouses in eastern Jackson County are trucks we buy, and a VIN photo plus the odometer reading is the place to start.
Two petroleum product terminals appear in Energy Information Administration listings near town: Kansas City Brighton at 10.7 miles north-west and Sugar Creek at 14 miles north. If your tractor pulled fuel tankers from either rack, send us any inspection or service records you have kept alongside the photos.
The North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, places the Missy Spur yard 11.1 miles north-west and the Blue River yard 14.4 miles north-west. The Bureau of Transportation Statistics also lists Lake City Army Ammunition Plant 14.1 miles north-east; a truck based out at any of these sites can be collected where it stands.
Freight, coil and private fleets registered in Lee’s Summit
FMCSA’s carrier census shows 322 active carriers with a Lee’s Summit address, 204 of them interstate and 118 intrastate. Whether your authority crosses state lines or stays inside Missouri, the paperwork we ask for is the same: the title in your name or your company’s, and the registration.
General freight is the cargo 193 of those carriers declare to FMCSA’s carrier census, followed by machinery and large objects at 64, metal sheets, coils and rolls at 36 and dry bulk commodities at 30. A flatbed tractor that has hauled coil or heavy equipment should come with photos of the deck, the tie-down points and the fifth wheel.
Private fleets, the ones moving their own goods rather than hauling for hire, account for 171 carriers in FMCSA’s carrier census for the city. Owners of those units often sell a truck or two at a time, and we handle each one the same way, one VIN at a time.
Local runs, long hauls and three big fleet yards
Drivers registered here are split between 740 working within 100 miles and 802 going beyond it, by the count in FMCSA’s carrier census. A long-haul sleeper may be parked at a terminal outside Missouri when you decide to sell, and that is fine: give us the location rather than bringing it home first.
Among the 113 carriers that report mileage to FMCSA’s carrier census, the median is 19,855 miles per truck a year. Write down the current odometer reading before you contact us, since it is one of the first two things we ask about.
The three biggest fleets based here operate 103, 74 and 71 power units under FMCSA’s carrier census, with 47, 62 and 29 drivers respectively. A fleet selling several units should send a list of VINs with each truck’s title status, so every truck can be lined up in one collection plan.
FMCSA’s carrier census also records 40 new carriers registered in Lee’s Summit in 2024 and 27 in 2025. If you started your authority in that window and are now selling the truck, have the title and the purchase paperwork together before we talk.
What Missouri roadside checks show for model years here
Lee’s Summit carriers put 500 trucks through roadside checks from August 2024 to August 2026, and FMCSA roadside inspection records place the middle model year of that group at 2020. Your model year and engine make go on the first message, together with the VIN.
In the same FMCSA roadside inspection records, 21% of the trucks checked were ten or more model years old. Whatever year your truck is, keep the most recent inspection report with the title; it shows the VIN and the unit we are talking about.
Titles, bridges and the route to your truck
The Missouri Department of Revenue runs its Lee’s Summit license office at 314 SW Blue Pkwy, 1.2 miles from the centre of town. If the title is lost or still shows a lienholder, that office is where a duplicate or a lien release gets sorted out before the sale.
Of the 80 bridges in the National Bridge Inventory for Lee’s Summit, 5 are load-posted and 2 have under 14 feet of clearance. The National Bridge Inventory gives the lowest, View High Drive over the Little Blue River, a clearance of 12 ft 11 in. If your truck is parked near it, tell us the street access when you send the address.
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts put 45,540 jobs in Lee’s Summit in 2023, with 2,941 in construction, 1,851 in wholesale trade, 1,826 in manufacturing and 996 in transportation and warehousing. Box trucks and straight trucks from wholesale and manufacturing yards are on our list, and a photo of the cargo box interior helps us identify the body.
Grain and cattle in Jackson County
Corn, soybeans and cattle lead the 588 Jackson County farms tallied in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture. A grain truck or cattle hauler that sits on a farm most of the year can stay right there; we collect from the field lane or the barn.
For a farm-plated truck, the Missouri Department of Revenue title is still what transfers ownership, so check that it carries the name of whoever is selling. Send photos of the hopper or the livestock box along with the cab and the VIN plate.
