Fort Bellefontaine, Champ and the Chesterfield dredge
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Fort Bellefontaine (CS31), a crushed-stone quarry, about 3.1 miles east of Old Jamestown. A dump truck or end-dump tractor that has hauled out of that pit is something we buy, and we can collect it from a yard near the quarry gate as easily as from a home lot. Tell us who controls access to the spot where it sits.
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists two more aggregate sites: Champ Quarry, roughly 11.8 miles south-west, and Dredge Chesterfield, a sand and gravel operation about 10.6 miles west. If your truck is parked at either, send the VIN, a clear shot of the data plate and photos of the cab, frame and bed, and we will plan the pickup around that address.
Yards at Berkeley and Baden, then the riverfront
According to the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, the Berkeley yard lies about 6.2 miles south-west and the Baden yard about 9.1 miles south-east. Day cabs that shuttle between those yards and north county warehouses are a regular sight here; if yours is one, have the registration and title in the same name before we talk.
Farther toward the river, Bureau of Transportation Statistics listings place the city’s intermodal ramp about 10.8 miles south-east and its river port about 13.2 miles south-east. A tractor that has pulled containers off that ramp or freight off the port can stay where it is parked; give us the lot address and a contact who can open the gate.
The Energy Information Administration places the ST LOUIS NORTH petroleum product terminal roughly 11.7 miles south-east of town. If your tractor or tank truck has loaded there, any terminal paperwork or service records you kept help us understand its working life before we see it.
Freight, car hauling and lumber on north county authorities
FMCSA’s carrier census shows 103 active carriers based here, and 81 of them list general freight among what they haul. Fourteen carry motor vehicles, ten carry logs, poles, beams or lumber, and ten carry paper products on that same federal register, so car haulers, flatbeds and dry vans all turn up in Old Jamestown.
Of those carriers, the federal census records 60 operating interstate, 42 intrastate and 16 running private fleets. Seven new carriers registered in 2025 and seven in 2024, according to FMCSA. Whether your authority is new or long-standing, bring the cab card and title so the paperwork lines up with the truck.
Fleets here are small: per FMCSA’s carrier census, one local operation runs 15 power units with 9 drivers, another 8 units with 9 drivers, and a third 5 units with 4 drivers. A carrier winding down a few trucks can sell them together; list each VIN and where each one is parked.
Short runs and long hauls from north county
FMCSA’s carrier census lists 83 carriers here whose drivers stay within 100 miles and 84 whose drivers go beyond it, so a local carrier may do both. A tractor that comes home each night is likely to be at a residence or yard in town when we collect it; one on longer routes may be easier to reach between trips, so tell us when it will be back.
Among the 26 local carriers that report annual mileage to FMCSA’s carrier census, the median is 20,000 miles per truck. Note the odometer reading when you contact us; it is one of the first figures we ask for, alongside the VIN.
Model years seen at federal roadside stops
FMCSA roadside inspection records log 42 Old Jamestown trucks pulled over for a check from late August 2024 (the 29th) through August 24, 2026, a sample small enough to read as a snapshot of local equipment. Those same FMCSA roadside records put the median model year of that group at 2017, with 40.5 percent carrying a model year ten or more years back.
Whatever the year on your title, send photos of the cab, both sides, the frame and the tires, plus any service records you have. If you hold an inspection report from one of those federal roadside stops, include it with the rest.
Jobs and fields around St. Louis County
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023 put 1,510 jobs in Old Jamestown, with 209 of them, or 13.8 percent, in transportation and warehousing and 69, or 4.6 percent, in construction. Ten construction businesses operate from Old Jamestown, the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns report. A dump truck or flatbed from one of those contractors can be collected from the job yard rather than a driveway.
St. Louis County also has 222 farms, growing soybeans, corn and wheat, according to USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture. A grain truck or farm tractor-trailer parked on county farmland is reachable for collection; tell us the road and the field entrance.
Titles at the Florissant license office
The Missouri Department of Revenue runs a license office at 650 N HWY 67 in Florissant, about 3.7 miles from Old Jamestown. If your title is lost, that office handles a duplicate, and having it in hand before the sale keeps the transfer simple.
When a lender still holds a lien, bring its release letter along with the title to Florissant, or tell us the lender’s name up front. A Missouri title signed over by every owner listed on it is what we need at collection.
