General freight, car haulers and beverage routes
Of the 134 active Overland-based motor carriers in FMCSA’s carrier census, 84 put general freight among the loads on their registration. If your box truck or tractor has spent its days on mixed freight around the county, a list of the usual stops and any bills of lading you kept will tell us what kind of work it did before we ask.
Machinery and large objects appear on 22 Overland carrier registrations in the federal census, motor vehicles on 20, and beverages on 14. A rollback, car hauler or beverage body is something we collect as a complete unit, so photograph the deck, ramps or bay doors alongside the cab and note the body maker if the plate is still on it.
Under the same FMCSA census, 89 of the local carriers are authorized for interstate work, 45 run intrastate only, and 45 operate as private fleets hauling their own goods. A private-fleet truck often carries a company name on the doors; tell us whether the lettering stays or comes off so the pickup crew knows what to expect.
The license office on Overland Plaza
The Missouri Department of Revenue runs a license office at 9100 Overland Plz, about 1.1 miles from the centre of town. A lost Missouri title is replaced through the Department of Revenue, and that office is a short drive for most sellers in the city, so start the duplicate request there before you list the truck with us.
Bring the VIN, your photo ID and any lien release when you visit the Overland Plaza counter, because the Missouri Department of Revenue will not issue a clean title while a lender is still recorded on it. Once the replacement is in hand, send us a photo of both sides and the registration card.
Lackland, Berkeley and the ramps toward the city
The North American Rail Network places the Lackland rail yard 1.6 miles west of Overland and the Berkeley yard 4.5 miles north. A yard tractor or local drayage truck parked near either one can stay where it sits; give us the gate or lot address and the name of someone who can let the crew in.
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists the Lindenwood intermodal ramp 7.1 miles south-east of Overland and the main city ramp in Saint Louis 8.4 miles east. Day cabs pulling container chassis between those ramps and the suburbs are part of what we buy, so include the chassis status in your message, whether it goes with the tractor or stays behind.
Port listings from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics put the St. Louis County port 5.6 miles south-west of Overland and the St. Louis City Port 9.1 miles east on the river. A truck that has run bulk or container loads to either dock can be photographed where it is parked; capture the door VIN label and the odometer in clear light.
Crushed stone north-west, sand and gravel beyond it
Champ Quarry, a crushed-stone operation on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list, lies 6.2 miles north-west of Overland. Dump trucks and tri-axles that haul out of a quarry gate usually have scale tickets and service logs in the cab; keep those with the truck when you contact us.
Further out in the same direction, the Mine Safety and Health Administration records Dredge Chesterfield, a sand and gravel operation, at 8.2 miles. If your dump body or end-dump trailer worked that site, tell us the body length and whether the trailer is part of the sale, and we will plan the collection around both pieces.
Construction jobs and builders around Overland
Construction accounts for 2,263 jobs in Overland, 18.5 percent of the 12,202 counted by the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023. Contractors’ flatbeds, stake bodies and dump trucks from that work are welcome here; list the body type and any lift gate or crane so the photos make sense.
Manufacturing holds 989 of those jobs, transportation and warehousing 720, and wholesale trade 621 under the same LEHD figures. Separately, County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau counts 79 construction establishments and 4 warehousing establishments in the area. Straight trucks from a shop or a distributor’s dock come off a business title, so have the company officer who can sign it ready when we talk.
Long-haul drivers, 2020 trucks and open roads in town
FMCSA’s carrier census lists 258 drivers working within 100 miles of Overland and 306 working beyond that radius. For a long-haul tractor that may be away when you decide to sell, tell us where it will be parked next and we can collect it there rather than wait for it to return home.
Overland carriers filing mileage with FMCSA number 44, and the middle truck among them logs 21,450 miles in a year. The three biggest local fleets on the FMCSA census run 82, 42 and 38 power units, so owners selling one tractor from a set should give us each unit’s VIN and its own title.
FMCSA roadside inspection records from August 2024 to August 2026 cover 131 trucks tied to Overland carriers; their median model year is 2020, and 29.8 percent are ten or more years old. Whatever the year on yours, send the build year, engine and transmission with the first photos.
Of the 5 Overland structures in the National Bridge Inventory, not one carries a weight posting or sits below 14 feet. Our tow and transport rigs can reach a driveway or yard in town without a detour, so a street address is enough to start.
Soybean and corn hauling in the county
Soybeans lead the crop list for the 222 farms that USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture records across the county around Overland, followed by corn and wheat. A grain truck or hopper-bottom trailer that hauls harvest from those fields is something we collect from the farm itself.
Farm-plated trucks in Missouri still need a title in the owner’s name, so confirm with the Department of Revenue office on Overland Plaza that the farm registration and title match before the sale, and tell us which field entrance or barn lot to come to.
The questions we get asked in Overland
- My title went missing; is the Overland Plaza counter the place to sort it out?The Missouri Department of Revenue license office at 9100 Overland Plz, about 1.1 miles from town, handles duplicate titles. Bring the VIN, your ID and any lien release, then send us a photo of the new title.
- Can you pick up a tractor sitting by the Lackland yard off the rail line west of Overland? The North American Rail Network puts Lackland 1.6 miles west of Overland, close enough that the crew comes straight to the tractor there. - Will you buy a tri-axle dump that runs crushed stone out of Champ Quarry?Champ Quarry, 6.2 miles north-west on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s list, is the kind of site dump trucks from Overland serve, and we buy them. Send photos of the body and cab plus any scale tickets.
