Two pits under ten miles out
Alden’s quarry haulers and the roads out to them
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists County Line Stone Co Inc, a crushed-stone quarry, 9.6 miles north of Alden, and Wehrle Quarry 9.8 miles to the west. A dump truck or tri-axle that runs stone out of either pit can stay parked where it works; give us the yard address and the name of whoever holds the keys, and we collect it from there.
Before we come out to a quarry truck, photograph the body, the hoist and the frame rails along with the cab and the data plate. Keep the registration with the title and any inspection or service records, so the paperwork matches the truck.
Private fleets in town
Small private fleets on Alden’s own roads
Out of Alden’s 163 active carriers, 126 are private fleets moving their own goods, FMCSA’s carrier census shows. If your truck belongs to a contractor, a farm or a shop that moves its own materials, tell us what the business does, since that tells us what kind of body and equipment to expect on the truck.
Of those 163 Alden carriers, only 11 are registered for interstate work while 152 stay intrastate, according to the same FMCSA census. That means most trucks here carry New York registration and a New York title, so a seller in town usually has one state’s paperwork to gather, not two.
The biggest fleet on the federal roster for Alden runs 166 power units with 103 drivers, the next 75 units with 35 drivers, and a third 39 units with 20 drivers, per FMCSA’s carrier census. A fleet manager clearing several units at once can send us a list of VINs and where each one is parked, and we plan the collections around that list.
Freight on the federal filings
Lowboys, flatbeds and log trucks from Alden
General freight is the cargo most Alden carriers declare to FMCSA, with 67 listing it, while 33 haul machinery and large objects and 18 move logs, poles, beams or lumber. A lowboy tractor, a flatbed with a winch or a log truck all fit what we collect here; tell us the trailer or body type in your first message.
Twenty Alden carriers list farm supplies as cargo in FMCSA’s census, and Erie County held 918 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, where milk, corn and soybeans head the list of products. A feed truck, a grain hauler or a milk tanker that sits on a farm outside town can be picked up at the barn; give us directions to the lane and a contact who will be there.
BISON and East Buffalo
Rail yards and tank terminals west of Alden
Westward about 14.5 miles, the North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, places the BISON rail yard, with the EAST BUFFALO yard at 15.3 miles. Drivers who shuttle trailers or containers between Alden and those yards can leave the tractor at its usual drop lot; tell us which lot and when it is open.
Liquid bulk moves through Norfolk Southern TBT, 14.8 miles west, and Transflo CSXT at 16.6 miles, both listed by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, and the Energy Information Administration places the BUFFALO petroleum product terminal 17.2 miles out. If your tanker hauled from these sites, send the tank’s last inspection paperwork and the placards it carried along with the photos.
Eleven miles to Williamsville for a lost Alden title
Replacement titles here go through the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, and its ERIE COUNTY - EASTERN HILLS MALL office sits at 4545 Transit Rd, Williamsville, 11.3 miles from Alden. If the title is missing, start the replacement there or through the DMV’s online title page before we schedule the pickup, and tell us it is in progress.
If a lienholder is still shown on the title, get their signed release and carry it to the Williamsville office along with the application. A title in a business name needs someone authorised to sign for that business, so name that person when you contact us.
Job sites and state rules
Construction jobs and New York’s clean-truck rules
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023 show 1,312 jobs in Alden, with construction holding 238 of them, or 18.1 percent, and transportation and warehousing 96. A dump body, a mixer or a contractor’s flatbed off a local job site is the kind of truck those sectors keep on the road, and we collect it from the site or the contractor’s yard.
For Alden owners weighing a sale, the state’s enforcement of the Advanced Clean Trucks (ACT) Regulation and the Heavy-Duty Low NOx Omnibus Regulation is currently paused. Either way, an Alden owner selling a diesel tractor or straight truck needs only the title, the registration and the keys for us to collect it.
The questions we get asked in Alden
- Can my tri-axle stay at the stone yard near Alden until pickup? The Mine Safety and Health Administration places County Line Stone Co Inc 9.6 miles north and Wehrle Quarry 9.8 miles west of Alden, and a truck at either can stay put. Tell us who will open the gate and we arrange collection with them.
- My Alden truck’s title went missing; where do I apply for a new one?The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles office at ERIE COUNTY - EASTERN HILLS MALL, 4545 Transit Rd, Williamsville, is 11.3 miles from Alden. Apply there for the duplicate and mention it when you first reach us about the Alden truck.
- Will you collect a milk tanker or feed truck from an Erie County farm?Erie County’s 918 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture lead with milk, corn and soybeans, and trucks that haul for them are trucks we collect. Send photos of the body or tank and the VIN.
- My Alden truck never crossed the state line; does that matter for the sale?FMCSA’s carrier census shows 152 of Alden’s 163 carriers running intrastate, so a truck that never left New York is the usual case here. Its New York title and registration are what we need.
