Sell your semi truck for cash in Apalachin the easy and convenient way

Apalachin sits in Tioga County on the stretch between Owego and Vestal, where log trucks, lowboys and general freight tractors share the roads with milk haulers off the county’s dairy farms. Selling one of them means we collect it at the Apalachin yard, shop lot or farm lane where it is parked.

Lowboys, log trucks and car haulers on Apalachin’s roster

Of the 48 active Apalachin carriers on FMCSA’s carrier census, 30 operate as private fleets moving their own loads. A contractor’s dump truck or a farm’s straight truck counts just as much as a for-hire tractor, so tell us whose work the truck did and where it is parked now.

Sixteen of those carriers declare general freight, thirteen declare machinery and large objects, nine haul logs, poles, beams or lumber, and seven move motor vehicles, according to the same federal census. A lowboy tractor, a log truck with its loader or a car hauler all fit what we buy; send the VIN, the body or trailer type and a few photos so we know which one is coming.

The split between interstate and local authority is close: FMCSA counts 21 local carriers cleared for interstate work and 27 that stay inside New York. Whichever authority your truck ran under, keep the registration and the cab card together with the title for the day we collect.

From one-truck owners to fleets with a yard full

The biggest operation on FMCSA’s census for Apalachin reports 113 power units and 126 drivers, the next reports 11 power units with 20 drivers, and the third runs 4 trucks with 4 drivers. A single owner-operator selling one tractor gets the same pickup at the yard or driveway as a fleet manager clearing several units at once.

Fleets thinning out a row of units can list every VIN in one message, along with the yard address and a gate contact. One title per truck is what we need, so pull them from the office file before we arrive.

Only one new carrier registered in Apalachin in 2024 and one more in 2025, by FMCSA’s records. If you are winding down an authority rather than starting one, the truck can be sold before or after you file the paperwork to close it out.

Local driving on Tioga County roads

Apalachin carriers report 196 drivers who stay inside the short-haul air-mile radius and 27 who travel beyond it, in FMCSA’s carrier census. Most of these trucks come home at night, so the likeliest pickup spot is a yard, a shop lot or a farm lane in or near town.

Note the odometer reading when you photograph the dash, and add the engine hours if the truck spends long stretches idling on job sites.

FMCSA roadside inspection records cover 62 trucks from Apalachin carriers inspected between September 2024 and August 2026, with a median model year of 2006 and 75.8% at ten or more years old. Copy the model year from your title into your first message, next to the make, the model and the VIN.

Apalachin between the OHRY yard and the Vestal racks

Apalachin’s nearest rail yard is Owego (OHRY), 6.7 miles west on the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Eastward, the North American Rail Network lists the Binghamton yard at 13.3 miles. If your truck is staged near either yard, give us the exact lot and who controls access.

The Energy Information Administration lists two petroleum product terminals at Vestal, 8.2 and 8.6 miles east of Apalachin, and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics adds the Norfolk Southern TBT liquid bulk terminal 13.9 miles east. A fuel tractor or tank truck that loaded at those racks is welcome; tell us what product it carried and whether the tank is empty and clean before pickup.

Under the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, both the Advanced Clean Trucks Regulation and the Heavy-Duty Low NOx Omnibus Regulation are listed with enforcement paused. Neither one changes what you need to hand over when selling a diesel tractor from Apalachin: the title, the keys and your registration.

The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists Roberts’ Stone LLC, a dimension-stone quarry, 15.9 miles east of Apalachin, and the Conklin crushed-stone quarry 19.2 miles out in that same direction. Dump trucks and flatbeds that work quarry hauls can be collected right from the pit lot if the operator allows it; ask them first and pass us the contact.

To the west, Porter’s Pit, a sand and gravel operation, sits 17.3 miles from town on the federal mine safety agency’s list. If your tri-axle hauled aggregate out of there, send photos of the body and the hoist along with the cab and the frame rails.

The Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns counts nine construction establishments in the Apalachin area, and the bureau’s LEHD job counts (LODES) put local employment at 393 jobs in 2023. Contractors selling a dump truck, a rollback or a service body can list the attached equipment in the first message so nothing is missed.

Bulk milk and grain trucks off the farms near Apalachin

Apalachin’s surrounding farmland belongs to Tioga County, where USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture records 502 farms and lists milk, corn and cattle as the leading products. Bulk milk tractors, grain trucks and livestock haulers off those farms are all trucks we collect.

A farm truck is often titled to the farm rather than to a person, so check whose name is on the title before you call. Pickup can happen in the barnyard or along the farm lane, as long as we know where the truck stands.

The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles handles certificates of title, and its ENDICOTT office at 137 Washington Ave, Endicott, is 6.1 miles from Apalachin. If the title is lost, request the replacement through the DMV before we schedule collection.

If the title still shows a lienholder, have the lien release in hand as well. With the title, the release and a photo ID ready, the paperwork at pickup takes one sitting.
