If your truck belonged to a contractor, a farm or a supplier that kept it for its own work, it fits what we buy here, and the registration in the business’s name is the document to find first.
Of those 274 carriers, 250 run intrastate only and 24 cross state lines, according to FMCSA’s census. A tractor or straight truck that never left New York usually carries New York plates and a New York title, so the paperwork stays with one agency, the DMV office in the village.
New registrations keep arriving: the FMCSA census shows 11 carriers added in Ballston Spa during 2025 and 10 during 2024. If you started an operation in the last couple of years and are now selling the truck, have the purchase paperwork and the current registration together, since a short ownership history is easy for us to follow when both are in hand.
Ballston Spa loads: machinery, timber, vehicles and general freight
On FMCSA’s census, 121 carriers here list general freight and 62 list machinery and large objects. A box truck or van trailer rig from general freight work and a lowboy or step-deck setup from equipment hauling are both trucks we collect around Ballston Spa; tell us which trailer, if any, comes with it.
Motor vehicles show up on 25 carrier registrations and logs, poles, beams and lumber on 38, according to that same FMCSA census. Log trucks, flatbeds with stakes, car carriers and rollbacks all belong on the list, so send a photo of the bed or deck along with the cab and the VIN plate.
Of the Ballston Spa drivers in FMCSA’s carrier census, 539 stay on short-haul runs close to base while 335 range further out. Write down the odometer reading when you contact us, and include the hours meter if the truck has one.
Stone, gravel and the rail yards around the village
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists two crushed-stone quarries 4.9 and 5 miles north of Ballston Spa, with the Hemstreet Park Pit sand and gravel operation 12.8 miles to the south-east. A dump truck or tri-axle that hauled aggregate from those sites can be collected where it is parked; tell us whether it sits at a quarry yard or at home, and who can open the gate.
On the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, the Saratoga Springs rail yard lies 4.5 miles north-east and the Mechanicville yard 9.4 miles south-east. Mechanicville also has an intermodal ramp 9.7 miles out, by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics’ listing. If your tractor pulled containers or chassis off that ramp, give us the make, model year and VIN first, and say whether the fifth wheel stays with it.
The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles runs its Ballston Spa office at 40 McMaster Street, half a mile from the village centre by that agency’s address. If the title is lost or still shows a lienholder whose loan is closed, that office is where a replacement or a lien release is processed, so start there before we schedule collection.
Bring the title, the current registration and a photo ID of every owner named on the title when the truck is handed over. Inspection stickers, service invoices and any DOT annual inspection reports help too; put them in the cab or send pictures of them with the truck photos.
Construction, farms and the county around it
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023 show 4,016 jobs in Ballston Spa, with construction holding 175 of them, manufacturing 85 and wholesale trade 62. Dump trucks, flatbeds and service bodies from building work and box trucks from wholesale delivery are the vehicles that list suggests, and we collect from job sites as well as driveways.
Across Saratoga County, USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 604 farms, with milk, horses and corn the leading products. A milk tanker tractor, a livestock or horse hauler, or a grain truck from one of those farms can be picked up at the farm itself; describe the body or trailer and send photos of it in daylight.
Tell us the road the truck is parked on and whether its entrance takes a full-length carrier.
Fleets, bases and New York’s truck rules
FMCSA’s census shows one Ballston Spa fleet with 92 power units and 86 drivers, and two more with 22 and 20 power units. Whether you are selling a single truck or several from a yard like those, list each VIN and where each unit is parked, and we can plan collection of all of them together.
Whatever engine year your truck has, include it in your first message along with the emissions label photo from under the hood or on the door.
