Private fleets and in-state haulers off the Hempstead Turnpike
FMCSA’s carrier census lists 220 active carriers based in Bethpage, and 156 of them run private fleets. If your truck belongs to a business like that, have the company’s name on the title match the name of the person signing, or bring the paperwork showing who can sign for it.
Of those 220 Bethpage carriers, FMCSA’s carrier census shows 190 operating intrastate only and 30 crossing state lines. A truck that stayed inside New York usually has its registration and any state inspection sticker in the cab; photograph both along with the VIN plate when you first contact us.
New registrations have picked up: the federal carrier census records 14 new Bethpage carriers in 2025 against 5 in 2024. If you started an operation recently and the truck is now surplus, a recent purchase file with the bill of sale and title is all the history we need to begin.
Box trucks, refuse bodies and beverage routes
General freight is the cargo listed by 82 Bethpage carriers in FMCSA’s carrier census. Straight trucks and tractors on those runs are what we collect here; tell us the body type, the length and whether it has a liftgate so we can plan the pickup.
The same federal census shows 23 Bethpage carriers hauling garbage, refuse and trash, 15 carrying beverages and 15 listed as utility operators. For a rear loader, roll-off or side-loader, send photos of the packer body and the hydraulics along with the chassis; for a beverage bay truck or a utility bucket, include the body plate so the upfit is clear.
Short routes dominate the driver rosters: FMCSA’s carrier census counts 572 drivers working within 100 miles of Bethpage and 85 going beyond it. Among the 50 carriers reporting mileage to that census, the median truck covered 9,050 miles a year, so expect us to ask for the odometer reading and the hours if the truck has a PTO.
One truck or a whole Long Island fleet
The three biggest Bethpage operators in the federal carrier census run 42, 29 and 19 power units, with 42, 17 and 43 drivers respectively. If you are retiring several trucks at once, send a list of VINs, model years and where each one is parked, and we will arrange collection unit by unit.
Most operators here are smaller than that, and a single-truck sale is handled the same way. Have the title in the seller’s name, the current New York registration and any service records together before the pickup is set.
How old Bethpage trucks run when inspectors pull them over
Across 147 Bethpage-based trucks stopped between September 2024 and August 2026, half were built in 2018 or later, by FMCSA roadside inspection records. Those same FMCSA roadside inspection records show 39.5 percent of the trucks were ten or more model years old.
Whatever the year of your truck, keep the reports from those roadside stops with the title. Include them with your photos, and list the make, model, engine and model year so the description matches the paperwork.
Sand pits, North Shore terminals and Queens rail yards
Just 3.4 miles east of town, Broad Hollow Estates Inc digs sand and gravel under a Mine Safety and Health Administration listing. Dump trucks and tri-axles that worked out of a pit like that can be collected from the yard where they are parked; give us the gate contact and the hours the site is open.
To the north, the Energy Information Administration lists the Oyster Bay petroleum product terminal 8.9 miles away and the Glennwood Landing terminal 10.1 miles north-west. The Bureau of Transportation Statistics records liquid bulk terminals at those same two points, so fuel tankers based along the North Shore fall within reach; note the tank capacity and the compartment count when you write to us.
West toward Queens, the North American Rail Network maintained by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places the Jamaica Yard rail yard 17 miles from Bethpage. A day cab that shuttles freight to and from the yards there can stay where it is parked in Queens for collection.
Warehouse payrolls and Nassau contractors
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023 show 14,185 jobs in Bethpage, and 2,822 of them, 19.9 percent, sit in transportation and warehousing. Box trucks and tractors from warehouse operations are a regular fit; send the trailer coupling type or the box dimensions with your photos.
Construction holds 845 of those Bethpage jobs on the same LEHD figures, and County Business Patterns from the Census Bureau records 93 construction establishments. Dump bodies, flatbeds and crane trucks from contractors are part of what we collect, and the body manufacturer’s plate helps us identify the equipment.
Wholesale trade accounts for 674 jobs and manufacturing for 489 in the LEHD counts for the town. Delivery trucks from distributors here usually carry a liftgate or reefer unit, and the serial numbers on those belong in your description.
A DMV office a mile and a half from town
The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles runs its Bethpage office at 4031 Hempstead Turnpike, 1.6 miles from the center of town. If your title is lost, that is where a replacement is requested; start the application before the sale so the title is in hand at pickup.
On Long Island as elsewhere in the state, the Department of Environmental Conservation shows its Advanced Clean Trucks and Heavy-Duty Low NOx Omnibus rules with enforcement on pause. To sell a diesel truck you own in Bethpage, have the title, the registration and your identification ready.
