Fuel terminals a few miles from the village
The Energy Information Administration lists the Selkirk LPG Terminal 2.3 miles west of Castleton-on-Hudson, and its Albany petroleum product terminal sits 3.5 miles north. A propane bobtail or fuel tanker that loads at either one is often parked near the river when its owner calls us, so give us the yard address and we will plan the collection from there.
Two liquid bulk terminals appear in Bureau of Transportation Statistics records close by: Center Point Terminal Company, 3.5 miles north, and CITGO, 3.6 miles to the north-west. If your tanker has hauled out of those gates, have the tank’s test and inspection paperwork with the title, and photograph the barrel, the valves and the plate on the trailer.
Ravena cement and South Bethlehem stone
South-west of the village by 4.3 miles, the Amrize Ravena Plant is recorded by the Mine Safety and Health Administration as a cement plant. Bulk pneumatic trailers and mixer trucks that run to a plant like that can be collected at the plant’s own lot or at your shop; tell us which, and whether a tractor can reach the truck without moving other equipment.
Mine Safety and Health Administration listings also place a crushed-stone quarry at South Bethlehem, 5.2 miles west. Owners of tri-axle dumps and end dumps working that quarry should send photos of the bed, the hoist and the cab, plus the VIN, before we talk about a pickup date.
Selkirk yard and the Port of Albany tracks
The North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, shows the Selkirk rail yard five miles west of Castleton-on-Hudson and the Port of Albany yard 5.3 miles north. Day cabs that shuttle loads between those yards and nearby warehouses are welcome; send the registration and the cab’s VIN plate in your first message.
A tractor kept at a drop lot near either yard does not have to come back to Castleton-on-Hudson before we see it. Tell us the lot’s address, the gate hours and who holds the keys, and the collection is arranged around that site.
FMCSA’s carrier census counts 116 active carriers based here, with 95 running intrastate and 21 authorised for interstate work; 88 of them are private fleets moving their own goods. Whichever kind you are, the title and the cab card are what we ask to see first.
General freight is listed by 46 of these carriers in the federal carrier census, machinery and large objects by 34, logs, poles, beams and lumber by 22, and garbage and refuse by 14. A lowboy, a log trailer or a roll-off truck fits what we take, and we buy the truck alone or with its trailer.
The three biggest local fleets in the census operate 32, 22 and 12 power units. New registrations added five carriers in 2025 and three in 2024, according to FMCSA; a recently started outfit selling its first truck needs only the title in the company’s name and an ID for whoever signs.
Seventy trucks from carriers here were inspected between August 2024 and August 2026 in FMCSA roadside inspection records, with a median model year of 2017.5 and 34 percent at ten or more years old. Note the model year and engine on your listing so we can match the truck to its title.
Bring a clear photo of the odometer and the dash along with the exterior shots of each side.
Owners who cannot find a title deal with the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, whose East Greenbush office stands at 99 Troy Rd, East Greenbush, 6.3 miles from Castleton-on-Hudson. Start the replacement through the DMV before we schedule a pickup, and keep the receipt the office gives you.
If a lender still shows on the title, bring the lien release letter as well. The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles handles that paperwork through its DMV offices, and East Greenbush is the nearest one listed for this village.
New York’s heavy-duty truck regulations
Castleton-on-Hudson owners need no extra state form from us to sell a truck while that stands.
The Heavy-Duty Low NOx Omnibus (HD Omnibus) Regulation is in the same position, with enforcement on hold according to the state. Photograph the engine label and the emissions sticker on the hood, since they show the engine family.
