Private fleets and in-state haulers in the village
FMCSA’s carrier census shows 172 active carriers registered in East Aurora, and 137 of them are private fleets moving their own goods rather than freight for hire. A contractor’s dump truck or a nursery’s stake body falls into that group, and both are trucks we buy. Have the title in the business name ready, along with the registration, so the paperwork matches the owner on record.
Only 6 of those carriers run interstate, against 166 that stay inside New York, according to the same federal census. A truck that has spent its working life on in-state routes usually still carries its New York registration and inspection sticker, so photograph both when you send us the cab and frame pictures.
In 2024, 8 carriers newly registered in East Aurora, and 8 more followed in 2025, according to FMCSA’s carrier census. If you started a hauling business in one of those years and are now winding it down, the truck and its USDOT number are separate matters; we handle the truck, and you close the number with FMCSA.
Dry vans, lowboys, feed bodies and log loaders
General freight leads the cargo list, with 67 East Aurora carriers declaring it in FMCSA’s carrier census. Straight trucks and day cabs pulling dry vans fit that work, and if yours has a liftgate or a reefer unit, list the make and model of that equipment too.
Machinery and large objects are hauled by 34 local carriers and logs, poles, beams and lumber by 20, on FMCSA’s carrier census. Lowboys, tilt-decks and log trucks with loaders belong in this group. Photograph the deck, the ramps or the loader boom along with the tractor, since each one is part of what we are looking at.
Farm supplies are declared by 25 local carriers in FMCSA’s census, and USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 918 farms across Erie County, with milk, corn and soybeans as the top products. A grain truck or a feed body that sits on a farm between seasons can stay right there; give us the farm address and a time someone can meet us at the gate.
Buffalo’s ramps, yards and bulk terminals
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics places a Buffalo rail intermodal ramp 11.6 miles west of East Aurora and a second one 12 miles to the north-west. If your tractor has pulled containers off those ramps, send the VIN, the odometer reading and a photo of the door sticker so we can match the build sheet.
On the North American Rail Network, maintained by the Federal Railroad Administration with the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, the Seneca and Blasdell rail yards both sit 11.6 miles west of the village. Trucks that shuttle between those yards are often parked near them rather than at home; tell us which lot it is in and who holds the key.
Liquid loads have their own sites close by. The Bureau of Transportation Statistics lists Norfolk Southern TBT, a liquid bulk terminal 12.2 miles north-west, and RSI Logistics, another liquid bulk terminal 12.9 miles west, while the Energy Information Administration places the Buffalo petroleum product terminal 12.8 miles north-west. For a tanker tractor, keep any terminal access paperwork and tank inspection records with the title.
Tri-axles on the run north to Wehrle Quarry
North of the village by 13.5 miles, the Mine Safety and Health Administration records Wehrle Quarry as a crushed-stone site. Tri-axle dumps and end-dump trailers that haul from a pit like that are trucks we purchase, along with the tractors that pull them.
If your dump truck is still parked at a quarry or a contractor’s yard, it does not need to come home first. Give us the yard address, the name of whoever controls the gate, and photos of the body, the hoist and the tarp system, and we arrange the collection there.
Short routes, factory jobs and wholesale loads
Drivers here mostly stay near home: carriers in FMCSA’s census report 374 drivers working within 100 miles and 76 going beyond that radius. Across the 26 carriers that reported mileage in FMCSA’s census, the median truck logs 5,861 miles. Note the odometer reading on the dash photo so the figure travels with the pictures.
The Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts for 2023 put 5,659 jobs in East Aurora, with manufacturing holding 1,376 of them, or 24.3 percent, and wholesale trade 646, or 11.4 percent. Delivery and box trucks that serve plants and distributors in town are part of what we buy; if the truck is titled to a company, have an officer ready to sign.
Fleet sizes vary widely in the village. FMCSA’s records show one carrier with 47 power units and 44 drivers, one with 36 power units and 8 drivers, and one with 10 power units and 4 drivers. Whether you are selling one tractor or several from a yard like those, send a list of VINs and we work through them together.
Titles, the DMV and clearances on the way out
A lost title is handled by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, and its nearest office is West Seneca - Southgate Plaza at 1088-B Union Rd, 8.2 miles from East Aurora. Apply for the duplicate there before the sale, and bring the registration and your ID with you.
East Aurora has 6 spans on the National Bridge Inventory, and the village’s tally shows zero with a posted weight limit and zero with clearance below 14 feet. That means a tall box truck or a loaded tractor can leave the village on its own roads, and collection can be planned from wherever the truck is parked.
