Two harbor fuel stops north of East Hills
The Energy Information Administration places the Glennwood Landing petroleum product terminal 2.5 miles north-west of East Hills, and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics records a liquid bulk terminal at the same distance. If your tanker loads on that shoreline, tell us the trailer type and whether the tractor and tank are being sold together or apart.
Further up the North Shore, a second petroleum product terminal at Oyster Bay sits 7.6 miles to the north-east on Energy Information Administration records. A fuel truck based between the two harbors can stay in its yard; send us the address, the gate hours and a name for whoever holds the keys.
Tank work brings paperwork with it. Keep any tank test certificates, hazmat placard records and the latest annual inspection together with the title, and send them along with the photos.
Bridges around East Hills to plan a pickup around
Of the 9 bridges the National Bridge Inventory lists in and around the village, 3 clear less than 14 feet and none carries a posted load limit. The National Bridge Inventory gives the lowest, where Roslyn Road passes over Route 908G, 10 feet 0 inches of clearance.
That number matters for a tall box truck or a tanker parked on a residential street off Roslyn Road. When you describe where the truck sits, name the nearest cross street so the carrier hauling it out can route away from that underpass.
Photos help here too: the parking spot, the street it opens onto and any overhead wires or trees. With those in hand the collection can be planned once, from the curb outward.
Gravel to the east, rail yards to the south-west
Eleven miles east, the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists a sand and gravel operation run by Broad Hollow Estates Inc. Dump trucks and roll-off rigs that haul aggregate from a pit like that are trucks we purchase, whether they are parked at the site or back in a Nassau driveway.
Jamaica Yard lies 11.3 miles south-west, according to the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, with a second Jamaica yard listed at 11.9 miles. A day cab that works freight to and from those yards can be sold from wherever it ends its shift.
For either kind of truck, have the VIN, the registration and the odometer reading ready on first contact; those three answer most of what we need to ask.
Wholesale, building and farm trucks
LEHD job counts from the Census Bureau put 2,189 jobs in East Hills in 2023, and 218 of them, about 10 percent, sit in wholesale trade. Wholesale work runs on straight trucks and box vans making deliveries around Nassau, and those vans are welcome here.
Contractors running a stake bed, a dump body or a utility truck out of East Hills can sell one unit or several; list each VIN and say which yard or driveway holds it.
Across Nassau County, USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 29 farms, led by equine operations and cut flowers. A horse hauler or a flower grower’s delivery truck kept in the county fits what we buy as well.
Garden City DMV for a missing title
The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles office at 400 Oak St in Garden City is 4.9 miles from East Hills, and it is where a replacement title for a Nassau truck can be requested. If yours is lost, start that request before we arrange collection.
Bring the registration and photo ID to that Oak Street office. If a lender still appears on the title, have the lien release letter with you as well.
New York clean truck rules right now
Advanced Clean Trucks, New York’s zero-emission sales rule, shows enforcement paused on the Department of Environmental Conservation’s heavy-duty vehicle page. Its Heavy-Duty Low NOx Omnibus regulation carries the same paused status on the department’s own pages.
A diesel tanker or dump truck kept in East Hills can be sold with both of those rules on hold. Put the engine make and model year in your first message from East Hills alongside the VIN.
The questions we get asked in East Hills
- My fuel truck sits in a yard by Glennwood Landing. Must I move it into East Hills before collection? The Energy Information Administration puts that terminal 2.5 miles north-west of East Hills, and we collect from there directly. Send the terminal-side yard address and whoever unlocks it after hours.
- How does a tall box van get out from under the Roslyn Road crossing? The National Bridge Inventory lists 10 feet 0 inches under Roslyn Road where it crosses Route 908G, so tell us the truck’s height and nearest cross street and the haul-out is routed around it.
