A manufacturing village and the trucks that serve it
Of the 1,921 positions the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts place in Falconer for 2023, manufacturing accounts for 1,022, a 53.2 percent share. If your tractor or straight truck has run between plant docks in the village, tell us which loading area it sits at now and who holds the gate key, and we will plan the collection around the shift pattern you describe.
Wholesale trade adds 52 positions on that same LEHD release, a 2.7 percent slice of the local total. Box trucks and day cabs that have worked distribution runs out of Falconer warehouses can be sold where they are parked; have the registration and the VIN plate photo ready before you call.
Vans, carriers, logs
General freight, vehicles and timber out of Falconer
General freight is the cargo listed by 21 Falconer carriers, while 12 haul motor vehicles, according to FMCSA’s carrier census. Car haulers with their ramps and headracks, and dry vans or flatbeds pulled for general loads, are both trucks we buy; photograph the deck or trailer coupling along with the cab so we see the whole unit.
Nine local outfits register logs, poles, beams and lumber, and eight carry machinery and large objects, on the federal motor carrier registry. A log truck or lowboy tractor kept on a woodlot or equipment yard outside the village is fine to leave there: send the address, a note on whether the ground is firm enough for a recovery vehicle, and photos of the bunks, stakes or deck.
Gravel operations south-east and east of the village
Frew Run Aggregates, a sand and gravel operation the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists 6.6 miles south-east of Falconer, and Corbett Hill Gravel Products, 12.9 miles east, are both within a short drive. Dump trucks and tri-axles that have run aggregate from either site can be collected at the pit gate or at your yard; tell us which, and whether a site contact must be present.
Builders and site contractors working around Falconer number 11 establishments on the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns. If a dump body, plow frame or spreader is mounted on your chassis, list it when you first contact us and include a photo of the mounting.
Local routes, private fleets and the Gerry reserve center
Thirty-one of Falconer’s registered carriers operate intrastate and 16 cross state lines, with 35 running private fleets, per FMCSA’s carrier census. A truck that has served a company’s own freight rather than for-hire loads is just as welcome; bring the registration in the business name and a letter from whoever signs for the company.
FMCSA’s carrier census shows 508 drivers tied to these carriers staying within a hundred-mile radius and 267 going further, and on the same census the median truck logged 12,013 miles a year across the 14 carriers that reported mileage. Gerry USARC, a military installation the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places 5.6 miles north-west, lies along the same local roads; if your truck is parked out that way, give us the nearest cross street.
Fifty trucks from local carriers were inspected between September 2024 and August 2026, and FMCSA roadside inspection records put their median model year at 2020.5, with 12 percent ten or more years old. Whatever the model year of yours, have the engine model, the transmission type and the odometer reading on hand when you reach out.
The biggest operation registered here runs 165 power units with 430 drivers, the next 38 units and 46 drivers, and a third 12 units with 11 drivers, according to FMCSA’s census. Owners selling several trucks at once can send one list of VINs and parking spots, and we will work through them together.
Getting a duplicate certificate from the Jamestown office
The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles handles title certificates, and its JAMESTOWN office at 512 West 3rd St, Jamestown, is 3.1 miles from Falconer. If the title cannot be found, a replacement is requested through the DMV before the sale, so start that application early and keep the receipt.
Where a lender still appears on the certificate, ask the lender for a lien release and bring it with the title. Sellers holding the truck in a company name should have the officer who signs for the business available on the day of the sale.
Dairy country and the clean truck rules
Farmland surrounds the village: USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 1,291 farms in Chautauqua County, with milk, cattle and corn leading. Milk tankers, livestock haulers and grain trucks parked at a farm outside Falconer can be picked up from the barnyard; tell us the lane access and any weight limit on the farm bridge.
New York’s Advanced Clean Trucks (ACT) Regulation is in a period where enforcement is paused, according to the state’s Department of Environmental Conservation, and the Heavy-Duty Low NOx Omnibus (HD Omnibus) Regulation has its enforcement paused too. Falconer sellers can include the emissions label photo with their other pictures so the engine family is on record. The National Bridge Inventory lists eight structures in the area, one of them load-posted and none with clearance under fourteen feet.
The questions we get asked in Falconer
- Our trucks only haul goods for our own Falconer business. Are they something you purchase?Private fleets make up 35 of Falconer’s registrations on FMCSA’s carrier census, and trucks from fleets like that are ones we buy. Have the company registration and an authorised signer ready.
