Geneva’s carriers lean toward farm and machinery loads
Geneva has 159 active carriers on FMCSA’s carrier census, with 147 authorised to haul only within New York and 11 cleared to cross state lines. A Geneva truck that has spent its working life inside New York usually carries a New York title and registration, so have both in the cab or in a folder before you contact us.
Of those 159 carriers, the federal census records 52 hauling general freight, 34 hauling machinery and large objects, 31 hauling farm supplies and 29 hauling grain, feed and hay. A flatbed or lowboy tractor that has moved equipment, or a straight truck that has delivered feed to Ontario County barns, is the kind of Geneva truck we expect to hear about; tell us the body type and what it carried.
Private fleets, meaning businesses that haul their own goods, account for 115 of Geneva’s carriers on FMCSA’s census. If your truck belongs to a farm, a contractor or a manufacturer rather than a for-hire outfit, the title may be in the business name, so have the person who can sign for the business ready when we call.
Short runs, small fleets and a median model year of 2019
Drivers working for Geneva carriers number 413 inside a 100-mile radius and 118 beyond it, according to FMCSA’s census. A truck that ran local routes around Seneca Lake is most likely parked at a yard or farm near town when we collect it, so give us the street address and a gate contact.
The three biggest fleets registered in Geneva run 57, 36 and 29 power units, the federal carrier census shows, and the median truck there logs 14,353 miles a year across the 32 carriers reporting mileage. If you are selling more than one unit from a fleet that size, send a list of VINs together and we will work through them as one sale.
FMCSA roadside inspection records covering 137 Geneva-registered trucks inspected between August 2024 and August 2026 put the median model year at 2019, with 37 percent of those trucks ten or more model years old. Whatever year yours is, photos of the cab, the frame, the tires and the odometer let us see the truck before we arrive.
The Geneva rail yard and the quarries east and west
The North American Rail Network, kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, places the Geneva rail yard 1.1 miles north-east of the city and the Kendaia yard 11.9 miles south-east. A truck that shuttled loads to either yard can be picked up where it sits; just tell us whose property it is on.
Seneca Stone Corporation’s crushed-stone quarry lies 10.1 miles east of Geneva and the Manchester Plant quarry 11.7 miles north-west, both listed with the Mine Safety and Health Administration. Dump trucks and tri-axles that haul stone out of pits like these often stay parked at the quarry between jobs, and we can arrange collection with the site office.
Further out, the Mine Safety and Health Administration lists the Palmyra Plant sand and gravel operation 15.7 miles north-west and Syracusa Sand & Gravel 24.8 miles west. If your gravel truck is parked at one of those operations rather than in Geneva, send us that location and we will go there.
Manufacturing, construction and warehouse work in town
Of the 7,673 jobs counted in Geneva in 2023, the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts put 740 in manufacturing, 160 in transportation and warehousing, 116 in construction and 86 in wholesale trade. Box trucks and tractors that serve plants and warehouses here are often titled to the employer, so check whose name is on the title before listing the truck with us.
Geneva is home to 39 construction businesses, a figure the Census Bureau publishes in County Business Patterns. A contractor’s dump truck, flatbed or crew-cab chassis is welcome; registration, any service records you kept and a note on the body or upfit help us identify it.
Milk, cattle and corn on the Ontario County side
Around Geneva, Ontario County holds 815 farms whose leading output is milk, followed by cattle and corn, per USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture. Milk haulers, livestock trucks and grain trucks off those farms are often parked in a barnyard or field lane, and we collect from the farm itself as long as the truck can be reached.
A farm truck may carry farm plates or be registered to the operation rather than a person. Before you call, find the title, note the name on it, and photograph the VIN plate so we can match the paperwork to the truck.
Titles, the Waterloo DMV office and New York’s truck rules
The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles office in Waterloo, at 1 Di Pronio Drive, is 7.7 miles from Geneva and is where a replacement title can be requested in person. If your title is missing, start that request before the pickup is scheduled and keep the receipt.
For a Geneva owner, the state Department of Environmental Conservation shows Advanced Clean Trucks and the Heavy-Duty Low NOx Omnibus both with enforcement on pause. Neither rule stands in the way of selling a diesel truck you already own in Geneva.
