If yours is a log truck, a knuckle-boom rig or a flatbed that moved sawn lumber, tell us the body type and whether the loader or bunks stay with the sale.
Twelve of those same Hadley carriers report machinery and large objects as cargo, according to the federal carrier census. A tractor that pulled a lowboy or tagalong should be sold with a clear note on whether the trailer goes too; send photos of both together and separately.
Seven local operators list general freight and three list farm supplies in their FMCSA filings. Box trucks and straight trucks from that work are welcome as well; have the registration and the title in the same folder before you call.
Thirty of Hadley’s 31 carriers are registered with FMCSA as intrastate only, and just one runs interstate. For a seller that usually means the truck carries New York plates and New York inspection stickers, so keep the latest inspection slip with the paperwork.
Twenty-five of the town’s carriers operate as private fleets, hauling their own goods rather than freight for hire, per the carrier census. A contractor or sawmill selling a truck it owns outright can sign the title directly; if a lender is listed, have the lien release on hand.
Drivers working for Hadley carriers number 54 inside a 100-mile radius and five beyond it, the FMCSA census shows. In practice the truck is probably parked at a yard, a job site or a driveway near town, and we collect it wherever it stands.
Owners of a small fleet can sell one truck or several at once; list each VIN so we can line up the titles together.
Note the odometer reading when you send photos, alongside the cab, the frame rails and the fifth wheel or body.
Gravel and stone sites near the Hudson
Hudson Valley Pit, a sand and gravel operation, lies 9.4 miles south-east of town on the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s register. Dump trucks and tri-axles that hauled from it can be picked up right at the pit gate if that is where they are parked; give us the site name and a contact for access.
East of Hadley, MSHA lists the Hudson Falls Plant 31 crushed-stone quarry 14 miles out and the Yole Pit sand and gravel operation at 16.4 miles. The Mine Safety and Health Administration also lists a crushed-stone quarry 16.3 miles south of town. Weigh tickets or haul logs from those sites help us understand what the truck did, though they are not required.
Fort Edward yards and Saratoga Springs
A tractor that shuttled loads to those sidings can be collected there or back at your shop, whichever suits you.
Southward, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics places NSA Saratoga Springs NY at 16.1 miles and the Outdoor Recreation Ctr installation at 19.7 miles. If a truck has a base gate pass or contractor decal, mention it, and remove any access credentials before pickup.
The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles handles title replacement, and its LAKE GEORGE office stands at 1340 State Route 9, Lake George, eight miles from Hadley. Should the certificate be missing, apply for a duplicate there or through the DMV offices before the sale, and bring photo ID and the VIN.
Once the duplicate arrives, check that the name printed on it matches the registration exactly. A business-owned truck needs the signature of an officer of that business, so arrange that ahead of the collection date.
Dairy, horses and clean-truck rules
Saratoga County holds 604 farms in USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture, with milk, equine and corn as the leading products. Milk trucks, livestock haulers and grain straight trucks from those farms are all part of what we buy, and a farm plate needs the matching registration with it.
Hadley sellers can therefore sell a diesel truck under the usual title transfer, with nothing extra to file for either rule.
