Private fleets and for-hire carriers on Irvington’s roads
FMCSA’s carrier census lists 27 active motor carriers registered in Irvington, and 22 of them are private fleets moving their own goods rather than freight for hire. If your truck belongs to a business like that, have the company title and the registration in the name on it ready, and tell us who signs for the company.
Of those 27, the same federal census counts 24 as intrastate and only 3 as interstate. A tractor or straight truck kept on New York roads will carry New York plates and a New York title; send a photo of each with the VIN visible so we can match them to the truck before we book a pickup.
Refuse, lumber, chilled food and general freight
Five Irvington carriers declare general freight on their FMCSA registrations, three declare garbage and refuse, two refrigerated food and two logs, poles, beams and lumber. Roll-off and packer bodies, reefer boxes, log trucks and dry vans all fall within what we buy; tell us the body type and its make along with the chassis.
For a refuse truck or a reefer, the body has its own serial plate and often its own paperwork. Photograph that plate, and if the reefer unit carries an hour meter, include a clear shot of it next to the dash photos.
One eighteen-unit operation and many small ones
According to FMCSA’s carrier census, the biggest fleet registered in Irvington runs 18 power units with 18 drivers, and the next two run 3 trucks each. Selling one truck or several from a yard here works the same way: list each VIN, where it is parked, and whose name is on each title.
The census also shows one new carrier registering here in 2024 and one more in 2025. An owner who bought a truck to start out and is now stepping back can sell it to us directly; the title in your name and a current registration are what we ask for first.
Quarries across the river, fuel terminals to the east
The Mine Safety and Health Administration lists West Nyack Quarry, a crushed-stone operation 7 miles north-west, and Haverstraw Quarry & Mill 10.7 miles in the same direction. A dump truck or tri-axle that hauls stone from either one may be parked at a job site rather than at home; give us that address and we arrange the collection there.
Eleven miles east, the Westmore Fuel Co liquid bulk terminal appears in Bureau of Transportation Statistics records, and the Energy Information Administration lists Westmore Fuels as a petroleum product terminal at the same distance. Further south, the Bronx terminal sits 15.9 miles away on EIA’s list and Sprague 16.1 miles away on the BTS list. If a tanker you own has loaded at any of these, keep its tank inspection paperwork with the title.
Two Hudson Line rail yards up toward Croton
Harmon Shops, a rail yard 11 miles north, and North Croton, 12.2 miles up the line, both appear in the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and BTS. Trucks that serve those yards are often parked near them between runs, so tell us whether yours sits in Irvington or up toward Croton.
Wherever it is, we come to the truck. A gate code, a contact on site and a note on whether a tow truck can reach it are the three things that make collection straightforward.
Work and paperwork
Local jobs, county farms and the White Plains DMV
Of the 2,799 jobs located in Irvington in 2023, manufacturing held 139, wholesale trade 136 and construction 88, per the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts. Sixteen construction firms keep an Irvington address in the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns; if your truck works for one of them, tell us which site it is parked at. Contractors’ dump bodies, flatbeds and box trucks from that work are all trucks we buy.
Across Westchester County, USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 108 farms, with equine operations and potted flowering and foliage plants at the top. Horse haulers and nursery box trucks can be sold to us on the same terms as any other commercial vehicle.
If a title has gone missing, the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles office at 1 Maple Ave in White Plains, 5.6 miles away, handles replacements. On New York’s clean-truck rules, the state’s Department of Environmental Conservation lists enforcement of both the Advanced Clean Trucks regulation and the Heavy-Duty Low NOx Omnibus as paused.
The questions we get asked in Irvington
- Will you take a garbage packer or roll-off off an Irvington route?Three Irvington carriers declare garbage and refuse hauling with FMCSA, and packer and roll-off trucks like theirs are on our list. Send the chassis VIN, the body make and a photo of the body plate.
- My tri-axle is parked out at a Rockland stone job; do you pick up from there?West Nyack Quarry, 7 miles north-west by the Mine Safety and Health Administration’s listing, and Haverstraw Quarry & Mill at 10.7 miles are both places a truck from here might sit. Give us the site address and a contact, and we collect from where the truck is.
- Which DMV office near Irvington handles a missing title? The closest New York State DMV office to Irvington is at 1 Maple Ave, White Plains, 5.6 miles away. Mention the pending White Plains application in your first message and we will plan around it.
- My company hauls only its own goods with its trucks; does that change anything?Twenty-two of Irvington’s 27 active carriers in FMCSA’s census are private fleets, so it is common here. The title just needs to be in the company’s name, with someone authorised to sign for it.
