Fifty-five carriers on a hamlet’s roads
Of the 55 active carriers with a Katonah address in FMCSA’s carrier census, a dozen haul across state lines and the other 43 keep their work inside New York. For a seller that usually means the truck is parked close to home, on a yard or a driveway in the hamlet, and we collect it there.
On FMCSA’s census, 16 of those carriers declare general freight as cargo and 11 list machinery and large objects. If yours is a tractor with a lowboy or a box truck on local deliveries, send the VIN, the registration and a few clear photos of the cab, the frame and the plate so we know exactly which unit we are discussing.
Refuse is on the list too: five Katonah carriers tell FMCSA they move garbage, refuse and trash, and four haul logs, poles, beams or lumber. A roll-off, a packer or a log truck is a vehicle we buy, so tell us what body sits on the chassis and where it is kept.
Small outfits, one nineteen-unit operation
The biggest fleet registered in Katonah runs 19 power units with 10 drivers, according to the federal carrier census, and the next two run six units and four units. Selling one truck out of a group of that size is routine for us; list the units you want gone by VIN so each one is matched to its title.
Thirteen Katonah carriers file yearly mileage with FMCSA, and the middle figure among them comes to 7,500 miles a truck. Have the current odometer reading ready when you call, along with any service invoices you keep.
New registrations are few: two carriers joined the federal census from Katonah in 2025 and none in 2024. If you started up recently and are now trimming equipment, the registration in your company name and the title are what we need to see.
Harmon Shops sits 11.2 miles west of Katonah and North Croton 11.6 miles west, both rail yards on the North American Rail Network kept by the Federal Railroad Administration and the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. If your truck works out of a yard along that stretch, give us the gate contact and we arrange collection on site.
The Energy Information Administration places the Cortland Manor petroleum product terminal 13.8 miles west, and Westmore Fuels, another terminal, 18 miles south of town. A tanker or fuel delivery truck that loads at either can stay where it is parked; tell us the address and whether it needs to be emptied before pickup.
Camp Smith, the National Guard training site, is 14.3 miles west on Bureau of Transportation Statistics records, and Constitution Island lies 17.4 miles north-west. A truck kept near either installation is one we can collect, provided someone can let us through to it.
Aggregate trucks from the Rockland pits
Across the river, the Haverstraw Quarry and Mill is a crushed-stone operation 15.2 miles west, recorded by the Mine Safety and Health Administration. Dump trucks and tri-axles that run aggregate from a site like that are trucks we buy; photos of the bed, the hoist and the cab help us see what you have.
The West Nyack Quarry, also crushed stone, is 17.6 miles south-west on Mine Safety and Health Administration listings. If the truck is still parked at a quarry yard, tell us who controls access so the collection can be booked with the site.
Construction and farm hauling around Katonah
Construction filled 65 of the 966 jobs located in Katonah in 2023, a 6.7 percent share by the Census Bureau’s LEHD job counts. Contractors’ dump trucks, flatbeds and equipment haulers from that work are trucks we purchase, and a contractor selling one should have the title in the business name ready.
Horses lead the farm list for Westchester County, where USDA’s 2022 Census of Agriculture counts 108 farms, followed by potted flowering plants and foliage plants. A stake-bed, a horse hauler’s tractor or a nursery delivery truck from one of those operations is something we take; send photos and tell us which farm road it sits on.
From Katonah it is 12.4 miles to the PEEKSKILL office of the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, at 1045 Park St, where title certificates are handled. If the title is missing, a replacement can be requested there or through the state DMV’s replace-a-title service before the sale goes ahead.
Bring the registration and your identification when you apply, and if the truck is registered to a company, paperwork showing you can sign for it. Once the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles issues the replacement, we can complete the purchase with that title.
Emissions rules on hold
New York adopted the Advanced Clean Trucks (ACT) Regulation, and the state Department of Environmental Conservation lists its enforcement as paused. Katonah sellers do not need any filing under it to sell a truck to us.
The Heavy-Duty Low NOx Omnibus (HD Omnibus) Regulation is in the same position: the state has paused enforcement. Keep any emissions paperwork that came with the truck and pass it along with the title.
